I think Special made a really good point here. The point is just because it's normal or ok in western cultures doesnt make it ok here in Thailand. Being open-minded means accepting other cultures not copying them..you can of course if you see values in them but I just hope people put more thoughts into it. I think the Thais who never live overseas are actually the one who dont hesitate adapting other cultures, not the other way around, becos people never appreciate what they have until they lose it. I don't see what good comes with getting half-naked in public and you should have to justify it simply because it goes against thai culture, the culture that formed our society remember?

Although I don't know for how long have you've been living in Thailand - I assume not so many years, in additition I don't think you come from a muslim country, so I don't get why you think I'm wrong... But still it's probably the age thing. I see some of the 40+ years old guys are holding this belief that it's all OK and should stay like that about Thai girls being extra super shy for no reason except for cultural aspcets. I don't accept it as a good thing and when I get older, I still won't see it as positive.

This is good point you give here also. I think you are right, there's a big problem in Thailand about men raping women and this problem is much more spread in Thailand than it is the in the west. Why's that? Is it new problem in Thailand? Did it emerge since Thai women started to wear bikinis like 10 years ago or so?

This problem goes so many years back, the roots of the problem that men disrespect women is maybe in the sidewalk of Thai culture, for that reason also woman?s level is lower than man especially in Thailand compared with western countries.
