Thai girls and sleeping with pillows

I'm really curious to know what is it about Thai girls sleeping with pillows or something to hug. This really seems to be a Thai (or Asian) thing since it's very uncommon for Western girls to do this and yet I don't think I've ever met a Thai girl that doesn't hug a pillow (or their guy) when sleeping. So why does almost every Thai girl do this? And why? Are you taught by your parents or friends or what? It doesn't seem to be a naturally universal thing to do! Hmmmm...maybe Thai guys do it too. Have no idea about that.

Please explain, ladies!!!

come on! i clicked on this forum cuz i thought the title is "thai girls and sleeping with THEM".

who cares about the pillows, teddy bears, bolsters, dildos, vibrators etc?

let's try to link both of the ideas and have another infamous thread.

Hahahaha bored! That's why I put this tread in the "G" rated section. Didn't realize how my subject line was gonna be truncated!

hahaha...this is hilarious. i had no idea, but it all makes sense now. a thai female friend of mine recently had a birthday. i asked he what her bf got her and she said, "a big pillow for me to hug while i sleep."

i'm curious now, is this typical of all thai girls?

Believe me, it's more than typical, it's almost the rule! That's why I'm asking WHY!

not really the RuLe!! Although i do hug the pillow and dolls, my sister doesn't hug anything at all. I didn't hug anything when i was young too...not until i started learning about being lonely

i also found that people who have to hug something while sleeping, he or she just needs love :)

BNB

Well it might be lonliness or security or whatever. I know very well about the lonliness thing, but a pillow or µØê¡µÒ doesn't work for me at all.

Well, the thing you say about love may be true, but it still comes back to my original question. Why do Thai girls hug something and Western girls don't? That's what I want to know!

Never thought of it before. But I am one who have to hug something while I sleep.. always need an extra pillow when I'm not at home with my fave side pillow.

I guess, you are right Khun Lung. It's loneliness, love, security. I guess it happens in Asian culture coz one thing we lack is hugging. It's just Asian Way that parents don't really show much affection to their kids, fearing too intimate relationship will cause disobedience. That kind of belief might have changed a lot nowadays, yet if you go around, I think you might notice what I've just mentioned.

An extra pillow for me please!

That's the most logical answer so far Shannon. But why is it so universal in Thailand? Pillow hugging isn't something natural and has to be a learned behavior. So the question is who do you learn it from? Parents? Friends (most likely I think)?

Personally i prefer to cuddle something that can cuddle me back (no pets!)

Oh We share something in common. hehehe

KhunLung : I don't think it's weird 'cause I think we all love to cuddle and be cuddled, don't we? I think hugging bloster while sleeping fulfils the loneliness u have. I do agree with Hideko !!

ac69uk : Yr story was really quite something! hehhehe

Well, it may seem natural to you guys but when I sleep I don't hug anything. Never have and probably never will.

Back when my ex-gf slept with me for the first time she hugged me like a teddy bear all night long! I was a prisoner, but it was nice too though I couldn't sleep. After the third night, I bought her a big teddy bear and said, "Give me some space so I can sleep!" She was happy (I think) and so was I. hehehe

Another logical answer for you, Khun Lung. I am not sure if it can apply to people at other age range, and not sure if it is the answer to your question. When I was a baby, my parents had me sleep on the side. It was a common thing to do during that time. Coz they believed that the kid's head would be in a better shape than having them lie flat on their back. Lying on the side, a side pillow came into use. But if my theory is right then this should apply to Thai guys as well. Maybe if you get a chance to spend some nights with a Thai guy, you might be able to prove if my theory is correct.

Ciao Khun Lung.
