Create a fake profile on TF?

During my time here as a Mod I have come across numerous instances where TF members have created duplicate/fake profiles. Honestly people, it's pretty easy to spot these fake profiles.

In contacting those responsible I have heard many excuses as to why they have done it. Initially they deny it then when realizing that they can be banned give their reasons are usually that they are trying to see if their cyber-love is cheating on them, trying to get back at someone or wanting advice for personal problems that they don't want their friends to know about.

So... Why would you create a fake profile? :roll:

I hope this doesn't generate a rash of fake profiles :shock:

Coz we will get to know some people that we already knew in different way. I guess it's FUN!

I dont have to create fake profile to check out someone, if neccessary I'll just simply ask my friend if she ever got message from Mr.XXX. It's an easy test. :lol: Well, I meant my close friend tho', run to ask anyone we know on TF about any guy isn't a good idea (again, if neccessary).

I think that there is actually a lot of valid reasons why someone would want to create a fake profile. That's why there's so many of these out there:

1) Because it can be entertaining to come up with an extravagant alter ego .

2) To attempt and scam money out of someone.

3) To try and get some cybersex (if you're not scoring in the real world).

4) To get back at someone that you don't like.

5) To get people's attention.

6) To be someone that you cannot be in real life/ say things you wouldn't usually say.

7) To attempt something illegal (eg. solliciting, sexual harassement) that you wouldn't dare doing under your real identity

etc.

Bet you regret having asked the question at this point som_tam, no?

Disclaimer: but of course being the honest and totally sane person that I am I would never attempt to do something so vile and mischievious.
