So why don't you ask the question you want the answer for then ? Can't read your own posts ?

You got the answer to the question you asked, what the heck are you giving palmyfan attitude for ?

FYI it's BLUE-RAY, not BLU-RAY and they are not DVDs.

PS3 does play back BD-R disks but it does not play back H.264 / X.264 media larger than 4GB file size due the limitations of FAT32 system it uses.

Any blue-ray copy stored on a DVD9 is likely to be close to 8GB in size and even DVD5 will almost always be over this 4GB limit.

At current the only option to play those back, as far as I know, is to use a computer. DivX has a max resolution of 720 x 576, not enough for 720p, letalone for 1080p so a DivX enabled DVD player will not play back any HD media stored on DVD5 or DVD9 either.

I do not know if PS3 plays back VC-1 on BD-R though. I believe it has to be a image of a Blue-Ray disk for PS3 to be able to play it back. Otherwise the FAT32 limitation would certainly come into play.

Lost my interest in my PS3 much sooner than I could be bothered to fiddle with all those options. The FAT32 limitation was the ultimate killer for me.

I use a PS3 as a Blu-Ray player. It was cheap, the picture is good on my HDTV and I thought that I would let the inventors/producers iron out all of the problems, before buying a purpose built one.

I might be wrong, but I think that these, and Blu-Ray players proper, have some form of region coding in them, or on the disks to help control the release and marketing of the films. If they are selling Blu-Ray disks, they must have some method of overcoming these "region locks".

no, actually. it's Blu-ray. it's not only definitely Blu-ray, it's ALWAYS been Blu-ray.

Thailand Is Region A the same as the Usa South America

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blu-ray_Disc

So, if I take all my (UK, Region 2?) Blu-Ray disks to BKK, they won't play on a Thai PS3, or Thai Blu-Ray player, I presume. :(

Unless there is some form of hack for the players. although, I must admit, I haven't looked for one, or heard of one yet.

Thanks Nelis. Yes it seems that some are, and some aren't. I shall just have to go through them and see which is which.
