Can you take virtual world too seriously?

Some long while ago a TFer posted about a man from England (?..or Scotland, can?t remember it correctly but I?m pretty sure he?s from somewhere in that area) caught having sex with a bicycle and now a wife caught a husband having sex with a monitor. What?s next? A lawn mower?

How is Norway? Or is it Germany? Well, somewhere in that area...

It?s possible. I have short memory you see, but I clearly remember he had sex with his bicycle. That?s hilarious.

funnily enough, when I still lived down south, a guy working beside a friend of mine was caught 'in flagrante' with a goat. He thought he would be safe as had chosen a rather deserted field in middle of country. Unfortunately for him, it was beside a train track, and a rush hour commuter train broke down right next to the field...

You'd be surprised how common goat/sheep/donkey sex is in some parts of the world.

Is this from personal experience???

B.

Found the news about the guy.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/1567410/Man-who-had-sex-with-bike-in-court.html

He's from south west Scotland (my memory is not too bad after all) I can't see anything wrong with that, really. It his bike and he did it in his room. He didn't hurt anyone by his sex-fantacy.

The other case, a man had sex with pavements in Redditch, Worcs, in 1993 and they jailed him.

Yes I remember we discussed the bike sex guy and there seemed to be a consensus at the time that he was causing harm to no one but perhaps himself! It may be different if he asks to jump on someone elses bike.

Objectaphilia can take some strange forms it seems.

But the pavement sex is just plain painful to try to even begin to imagine....ouch!

yes you can take virtual world too seriously. I've seen the affects games like world of warcraft (WOW) and other role playing games (RPG's) can have on ppl. i seen people get total lost in these games play for hours at a times.

I've read stories about people playing WoW and compared them to myself just to make sure I wasn't doing the exact same thing. *laugh* I would play for a few hours, but I wouldn't get SO into the game that I neglected other mandatory activities. I would actually get up to go to the toilet, get food, get drinks, talk with neighbors out in the soi... I'm always a bit freaked out when I read that a 15 year old plays WoW for so long that he starts having epileptic seizures. Then again, where are the parents on this one? And if an adult chooses to do this kind of thing and only ends up abusing themself, I don't see why gov'ts feel as if they should step in and regulate online gaming (like Thailand did with Ragnarok a few years ago.)

What did the Thai Government do with Ragnarok?

I believe they tried to either restrict the hours that online games could be played at internet cafes OR put a time limit on the length people could play said games. The main game in question was Ragnarok. A bunch of uppity thai gov't officials got their knickers in a twist because thai kids were spending too much time in internet cafes playing Ragnarok and not enough time on their "studies". Of course, thai parents can't be expected to look after their kids... That's the job of schools, teachers, maids, and gov't officials. hehe

http://secondlife.com/

I have just had a look. That's some of the gimpiest sh*t I have ever seen in my life..

People please...I know we all like the internet but WTF?

I know what you mean. I downloaded the client and had a go at it for about 8 minutes. Possibly the most STUPID/LAME thing I've ever seen in my life. At least in WoW, you can get large swords and kill off big, scary monsters. What do you do in Second Life? Choose where to put a virtual sofa and "socialize" with other shut-ins...

OUCH!

a few buddies of mine are SF. They get a lot of thermal vdo on their jaunts through the wild. All of them have caught Afgans and Iraqis, among others, keeping their live stock company. I'm sure if you talk to their Brit counterparts, they'll have similar stories.

how about aussies and new zealanders and the smokies in the US have a reputation also

How about every religion in history except those with Abrahamic roots?

How about bestiality as part of the Roman games (never showed a giraffe humping a female slave on Ben Hur did they?)

Now I know we always go off topic on TF, but how the hell did we get to bestiality from virtual worlds???

Ooops!!!

In my defence, Nicky mentioned bicycle sex and I brought up goat sex, but yes M'Lud, guilty as charged
