OK so the Lakers won the big cheese!!!

SHAQ is going to CLEVELAND for a 3 player deal too. WtF  :? 8)

did shaq really find out he was being traded on twitter???

http://www.techcrunch.com/2009/06/24/did-shaq-just-find-out-he-was-traded-on-twitter/

Will this help Lebron out any  :?:

should be interesting. friend of mine thinks this makes Cleveland the favorites for next year.....me, i'm kinda wondering if Shaqsquatch is past it. although Center is a position where big and strong are more important than quick and fast...

I'm definetly not a spurs fan, but a line-up with Tony parker, Manu Ginobili, Richard Jefferson and Tim Duncan .. doesn't sound bad either ...

With KG, Powe back, Boston should have another go at it

missed the jefferson deal, used to watch him all the time when he was in NJ (was across the river from me at the time). hate to say it because i hate the lakers but i don't think they'll be crying themselves to sleep from worry.

so will shaq take some strain off of lebron and the cavs but cavs still need to get some more outside shooters. cause you know shaq is gonna miss all his gimme free throws. and yes right zeus...lakers look like they will probably repeat next year

exactly...zeus how many more years does shaq have in him? cavs are bit desperate. lebron can get them to the finals each year but they need some

more depth. of course thats why the fall apart in the playoffs each year

the kind of deal they need to make is one like the deal that brought pau gasol to LA or garnett to Boston. they need one more blockbuster deal. Shaqsquatch will be motivated but the days when he could carry a team are long gone by.

Cleveland need another first-rate player. probably a guard. it's not coincidental that most teams that won championships had at least 3 stars, one of whom will inevitably be a role player rather than carry the team--Ray Allen at boston, Lamar Odom at LA this year, or the best example of all-the Admiral when Duncan carried the day. if Cleveland get a first-rate guard then Shaq can be the 3rd-star role player.

interesting draft day, although much as i like my Carolina boys i have to admit it's the worst draft class since the year of K-Mart. really interesting question though--what will happen to Ricky Rubio? most likely he'll stay in spain for a year, but will he join the T-wolves or will they deal him? if they're keeping him, what will they do with the rest of the point guards they drafted, start them all and just pass the ball around the perimeter all game?

some other interesting deals besides the shaq and jefferson deals--notably, whether the Orlando version of Get Carter is a smash hit, a trainwreck, or both...

so they will keep johnny flynn and lawson and deal rubio. ic that did have people scratching their heads about 3 point guards as picks. even their forward kevin love questioned the move.

I would have to agree with you that it was a weak class this year. Oklahoma blake griffin goes to the clippers that team really needs some work baron davis and camby are probably the other only good players they have. they have a lot disorganization on the court and bad coaching.

Hasheem thabeet to the grizzlies..

that kid is pretty good only 18 8)

i think t-wolves have already dealt lawson to Denver, vaguely remember reading that somewhere.

you haven't heard anything about rubio already being dealt have you? i know the knucks are sniffing around, but haven't heard anything beyond that.

thabeet looks set to join that long line of african ballers who need so much work that they never quite complete their self-improvement-as-a-baller project before they retire from hoops.

i'm liking the carter to magic trade. main puzzle piece traded is rafer alston. he's good but jameer nelson will be back; if he's half as good as he was last season before being injured (all star pick if i recall correctly, if not shoulda been) then magic won't miss alston at all, and turkoglu will be more likely to want to re-sign. they've still got tyronn lue to back up nelson so they're not in a bind at pg as long as nelson doesn't have any more catastrophic injuries.

1-nelson, 2-carter, 3-hedo, 4-lewis, 5-big dwight..... cleveland and boston are reaching for the paracetamol about now.

Turkoglu has opted out of his contract and is a Free Agent now. With Vince Carter coming over, the odds of his signing with the Magic are pretty low.

Rubio hasn't been dealt as of today, and I am figuring his going to go back and play in Europe for a couple of more years. The GM has already said that is an option that they are comfortable with.

Personally I think the Magic gave up a lot for a 31 year old player who takes a lot of bad shots and doesn't play much defense. Alston and Courtney Lee were solid for the Magic this year.

But I'm an Atlanta Hawks fan, so I am just hoping that we finally found a good point guard in the draft!

too bad coz either could play a 2 or a 3, although i think i'd put cousin Vinnie at 2. no Hedo it will depend on who they sign, but prob puts vinnie at 3.

yeh. that's what i thought.

true, but Jameer Nelson will deffo start ahead of Alston and gobble up the minutes if he's healthy, so it'd be tough keeping alston entirely happy anyway. neither of them is really a 2 guard, although i suppose they would have been able to confuse opponents by alternating who brings the ball up court.

But I'm an Atlanta Hawks fan, so I am just hoping that we finally found a good point guard in the draft!

will be interesting. your boys deffo seem on the rise. although raised a knucks fan i don't have a particular favorite pro team anymore (except for whoever's playing the Lakers) i just like to see good ball. however beyond that it's steadfastly a) Carolina B) whoever's playing dook.

I'm a Georgia Tech fan for life and my dislike of NC and Duke runs VERY deep!!!

Hewitt brought in a top 5 recruiting class this year, and if he can keep the boys for a couple of years, we will be back in the ACC race again.

so the pistons fired Curry after only one season..

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090630/ap_on_sp_bk_ne/bkn_pistons_curry_fired

I wonder who will replace him? hmm lets see..

i think big joe's gotta face up to some serious rebuilding, as in the kind that takes years. he's done it before to great effect. time to start dismantling the team and stop firing coaches.

yeah but if they look for quick fixes they'll spend ten years or more in the wilderness like the knucks (can anyone say Frederik Weiss? if the name doesn't ring a bell, you said it right, and you're probably too smart to have given up picking Ron Artest to get him. the knucks were not.)

Detroit looking at Ben Gordon and Villanueva, Boozer,

Doug Collins,Avery Johnson, Van Gundy for coach? Lambier? Lambier quit WNBA said he wanted a coaching job in NBA... Did you know Avery still gettng paid by the Mavericks must be nice. I think Avery Johnson would be

a good fit for coch for the Pistons.

AJ would be a good option. are D'troit looking at all those guys or is it x *or* y *or* z? all good options. i have a soft spot in my heart for villanueva, he helped me win my fantasy basketball league.

yep..villanueva can put up some pretty decent points on the board and rebounds decent too.Gordon will recieve 55 million 5 year deal. not official until next week when they can announce it.

no I believe that avery would be good.. rumor was that Curry was accused of losing control of his players in the locker room and lost respect.. of course you know Avery takes full control of a team. probably why cuban and him bumped heads a lot.

Avery brings to the table his man to man attacking defense style. I know what you saying it makes his defenses vunerable to transition baskets. but that agressive style eventually wears out opponents. plus the east always gets smashed by the west so maybe he can bring an edge for an east team for post season play.

Detroit has now signed both Gordan and Villanueva. But the word is that the Celtics are courting Sheed, so he may be out of Detroit.

BTW, when GT is spanking NC's behind in football and baseball and golf and just about everything else, keep holding on to those basketball memories.
