It's good to be back!

I'm super happy that the glich which didn't allow me to access the forum is gone! I think i'll learn a lesson here. There's that saying "you don't know what you have until it's gone." Let me not forget to enjoy those around me today because tomorrow they might be gone. Let me love those that I need to love. Let me respect everyone so that I may get it back as well. Let me be there when a friend or loved one needs comfort and support. I may not get that chance tomorrow! Yeah, I think i'll learn a

23rd Nov. Is that so

Went to watch a game of Amercian Football at Ahola Stadium with my friends. The game was between the University of Hawaii and Army (West Point). My first time watching an American Football game not that I understood it. There was all the American fanfare with skydivers landing in the stadium, loud music, colourful displays etc. Army lost. We had dinner outside - couple of army chaps in the same place as well. We told them that the army lost and one of the chaps said, "is that so". This reminded

withdrawing sympthom

hi space! i tried to quit smoking once,..well..every once in a while..i meant. there was one time that i was very serious about it, i used nicotine patches at that time...it's pretty effective but i couldn't bare its side effects. anyhow, i've got my reason to smoke again. it's my cat. he has been a second-hand smoker for years. he was seriously got the effect of the lack of smoke. he became very big as he as well as others, turned to food and became snacky when they tried to quit smoking.

Can we make a difference

?I was walking down this deserted beach at sunset and I saw a man in the distance. As I grew nearer, I noticed that the man kept leaning down, picking something up and throwing it out into the water. Time and again he kept hurling things out into the ocean. As I approached closer, I noticed that the man was picking up starfish that had washed up on the beach, and, one at a time, he was throwing them back into the water. I was puzzled so I approached the man and said, "Good evening Sir - I wa

Nervous before big trip

I have a hard time going to sleep every single night. I will be leaving for Thailand in 30 days and cant wait to go. It is hard to not think about the land of smiles. When I finally fall asleep it is very late at night or early morning. Soon I will be back in Thailand anyway. Robert.

a living painting

hello space... a while ago, i was invited by one art history prof. for a coffee. nothing official, really...we just sort of exchanged ideas and chitchatted in general. at some point over the conversation, she proposed me to give a lecture about Thai Arts. that sounded interesting indeed but i had to turn her down because i didn't have time to do research for that matter. there're too much to juggle already. anyhow, the idea of having a talk about thai arts inspired me to look through the time

The best medicine

Ah laughter brings a funny sound it catches on to those around, and pushes problems far away it's in a place i want to stay. I love to laugh. I mean that kind of laugh that makes your stomach hurt and makes it hard to breath. Usually, laughs like this come about when something happens unexpectedly on the spur of the moment. You become overwhelmed at that very second and have no choice but to let loose and enjoy. I love to laugh, what about you?

i hate writing, and writing hates me!

hmmm...hello space! i'm not sure if there will be anyone interested in reading my journal or not, but that's ok. since i am a loner and i don't talk to ppl very much, writing could be the way to release my " ...." (whatever adjective it would apply). i am about to submit a conf. paper to one institution but academic writing has never been my pal. i sent my final revision to my editor and what i've got back was a scary email. the sound of it was pretty much like she was yelling at me as she co

21st Nov. - Oh what a day it was

Oh what a day it was: Green garden grass snakes can be dangerous. Yes, grass snakes, not just rattlesnakes. Peter and Cindy, the couple whose apartment I had rented in Waikiki have a lot of potted plants, and since its been very windy the past few days, Cindy was bringing some of them indoors to protect them. It turned out that a little green garden grass snake was hidden in one of the plants and when it had warmed up, it slithered out and Cindy saw it go under the sofa. She let out a very lo

Always and forever.

I've always loved that song. I heard it again the other day and started thinking. There's alot of love songs that promise undying love for a special person and many people dedicate special songs to the one they love. Yet, there are way too many beak-ups around the world. People it seems really want what they find in love songs for themselves, but sadly, I don't believe that too many find it. Maybe we should write alot more love songs?

20th November

Nothing much happened today. Woke up early went for jog and worked out in the gym followed by a sauna. It had been quite sometime since I had done that and it felt good ? the fresh air and exercise. Need a regular schedule otherwise I could soon fall out of the slim-toned category. The rains have come and it?s been an overcast and windy day today. Its really windy at the PH level - can hear it whistling outside. Cooked dinner for myself for a change - spicy spare ribs. with some wine. The King

favourite music

Well, that forum topic "what is your favourite song?" got me going.... I sing Blackbird (The Beatles) and Mining for Gold (traditional song, but learned it from a Cowboy Junkies CD) to my little boy... along with 1960s and 1970s protest songs LOL from before I became conscious of music. I sing him The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald too, a song about a ship that was lost in a bad November storm on huge Lake Superior (the largest freshwater lake in the world, sits between Canada and the USA). Weather or not

It's raining pretty bad today. Some people don't like when it rains, but I like it-not all the time of course! I walk in the rain-it feels nice. Just sitting near the window listening to the raindrops and getting lost in thought. I can go where ever i choose in my mind and not get wet. Yes, it's raining outside and I'm kinda happy about it.
