Has a Moderator ever been Demoderated?

Perhaps because of throwing his or her weight around too much, being overly sensitive, or just being unpopular with members?

If not, could it happen?...

...just a thought.

Zeus is the only one I know...but I believe he stepped down willingly...to be free to be his usual self without regard for anyone bothering him about abuse of power.

could it happen?....don't know....a better question is..."should it happen?"

Dont want to sound like teachers pet, because i have had a recent run in but all is resolve and i accept my part in it, without moderators there would be no Tf.

Just like the so called world class referee's in the world cup it showed that everyone is human and make mistakes.

As someone quoted on recently blocked forum "where there is smoke there is fire".

Everyones action is a reaction (been reading to many management books).

Bet i get some **** for this. o well

Moderators are chosen for not being overly sensitive or power-crazed in the first place (despite what you may think)

Lots of moderators have been yellow carded (including myself when I used to be a moderator in a former life) so I doubt that Admin would hold back if a moderator CONTINUALLY overstepped the mark. (Occasional transgressions are part of being human)

But I don't think it will happen because moderator selection is pretty good.

Of course the general user population will never cease bitching and sniping at moderators and imagining them to be breaking some imaginary "rules of fairness" that don't make any sense anyway...

Most of the moderators I know, myself included, didn't accept this job for the perks. Last I heard, there aren't any. And having a title is not a perk in the virtual world. On the contrary, we were asked very nicely (and persistently) by admin and other mods to help out. That's how mods came to be.

As for being heavy handed. Well, there are 2 kinds of sites out on the internet. Some of little or no moderation at all. They are flame-fests, and riddled with fakes and scammers. TF is relatively free of that. Other sites have zero tolerance for flaming. One slag off and you're out -- no yellow cards. You're just gone. One of the unique things I've always thought about TF, and the reason I first went premium is that it seems to have a nice balance of boundaries vs. passion.

Will you always be happy with the mods? No, of course not. Is TF better because mods get involved and try and enforce some level of common courtesy between members? Absolutely.

Fortunately the world is not built to FB2's expectations!

Sushi: Moderators don't have close friends. They are anti-social beings who have giving up all hope of getting a decent shag out of TF that is why they accept ignominy of being moderators...

actually demoderated is a word....we all know what it mens so it is a word. mods have a job to do. some do it gracefully, some less so. but they do a job. if i get yellow carded and i think i came close this week i have no complaints. there are too many idiots here....without mods we would all suffer.

damn straight! if it were, then there would be alot fewer big fat pain in the ass fuckwits walking the streets...all according to my own personal twisted definition!.......but that's not what i was talking about...i was talking about the possibilty that regardless of whatever intentions there were when selecting a mod, if those intentions, and expectations, not mine, weren't met...then what?

FB2...you may be considered an a**hole by some, but every time you post I am sure to read it. The way you express yourself and your sense of humor are classic. Keep it up! FYI, and I am sure as hell no prince....sarcasm laden name for sure. Ya new that already, right?

Bali...Way too serious for sure! 1 round on me for everyone.

OMG, not that debate again. Like I always said nobody is forced to be member of TF. U can disagree with certain matters and put ur point in a nice way and motivated. If u don't like TF and the way it's moderated and organized, just leave. U r free to come and u r free to leave. I'm sure constructive proposals are always welcome.

Being able to delete comments that TF members add to your journal is the neatest little feature... it's like being a Mini-Mod! (Hence one comment that I considered to unconstructive, has been rememoved) Oh glee, oh happy day :op
