Have anyone bought a Travel Health Insurance before? I need it for my visa application. Where do you normally buy it from? I did not find much information about it on the net. I would appreciate if anyone could give me more detail about it (price, how/where to buy etc.)

Thank you in advance

Ps I also posted the same question on the forum here as well, in case it might be useful for other member in the future :)

There is a TF member who works for an insurance company....I forgot her profile name now....but I believe she is engaged to JBJE.

In Australia, you are able to buy travel insurance at any travel agency....but thats Australia.

for thai people YOU HAVE to ask to the VISA department of the embassy of the country u wanna go to. they will tell you exactly what you need. it depends by exemple if you enter the shengen area in europe. It can be very boring to find it. if you want the best answers ask the ambassy! they got lists of insurence that are accepted. If u have found one already make sure it is accepted or u ll be fu***d. It s the most important step for visas into europe. i am taking care of it now for my teerak and it s quite regulated so becareful.

BUPA is an ok company and I got it for my teerak. remember that you have to upfront and i used a loan company agent named Rahmat. basically you put a deposit down and his company pays the bill waits a month or two and then you pay him back when BUPA pays you back. we went to a hospital in boston and connected bupa with his company via [email protected]. also his number is 083-504-6063.

either way i would get the insurance because...you never know!

quite expensive travel insurance! :-O Mine, in Finland, costs 2000 baht for one year, it is always valid that way. Comes to be very cheap after all it is valid traveling inside Finland or outside Finland. So this way it is quite fast much more cheaper than one of those one trip insurances. I recommend you check this option out? Atleast my company has priced their products so that anyone who travels outside their home city more than once a year, it is cheaper to get it for one year. :) Good luck, hopeully you WONT need insurance when you finally find the right one for you! :)

Hi May. Travelinsurance is included if you pay more than 50 % of your ticket with a VISA or MasterCard. That is how things work here anyway.... maybe different from Thailand.

HI MAY.... YOU MAY NOT HAVE TO PAY ANYTHING AT ALL... iF YOU PAY YOUR PLANE TICKET WITH A vISA cARD YOU AUTOMATICALLY ARE INSURED FOR THE TRIP....

IF YOUR NOT PAYING WITH TCREDIT CARD OR YOU REGARD THAT INSURANCE COVERAGE AS INSUFFIECIENT THEN THE SIMPLEST WAY TO GO ABOUT IT IS TO CONTRACT IT DIRECTLY THORUGH THE TRAVEL AGENCY.... COST WILL DEPEND ON THE DURATION OF COVERAGE AND WETHER YOU ARE LEAVING THAILAND OR NOT....

LASTLY, FOR CERTAIN ACTIVITIES (IE SPORTS LIKE DIVING, SKIING, WILDLIFE TREKKING AND THE LIKE) YOU MAY WANT TO LOOK FOR SPECIFIC INDURANCE POLICIES THAT COVER FOR THOSE ACTIVITIES AS GENERALLY NORMAL INSURANCE POLICIES EXCLUDE THESE ACTIVITIES FORM THEIR COVERAGE....

FOR DIVING: APPLY FOR INSURANCE WITH DAN ALERT NETWORK... PADI OFFICAL/COMPLIANT WORLDWIDE COVERAGE...

REGARDS,

m.

If u don't buy it, it means your LIFE can be ruined...think, if u get seriously hurt and need special home transport. I buy it every time I travel to Thailand (at a danish insurance company), price app. 4000 baht for 3 weeks.

travel insurance is indeed covered by creditcard company when you purchase your ticket likewise, but you'll need a health insurance which is not covered.

check Allianz for a good package, you can do it online or visit them in bkk

Bupa is not so bad I think...just what RYU666 said... By the way Poul.. someone has to guarantee May.. He/she will be ruined when an accident will happen, if it's not completely covered by the insurance.. But let us not think of that.. Everything will be fine! You'll have a nice time over here I hope! :)
