Pain and pictures in Bangkok

Bangkok108.jpgWell, it was my last night in Bangkok and I decided to go to the Sky Bar at Lebua State Tower, to see view and to take some pictures of Bangkok at night. Got there OK, spoke to the guy at the Bell Boy desk, turned around and promptly walked, smack bang into a plate glass window. The loud bang and curse caused everyone to look around. There was I, camera in hand and blood pouring from a cut on my nose. Staff came running with wet towels, sat me down and called a nurse. She took me somewhere private and after tending my wound sent me on my way, now sporting a big white dressing. What a way to make an entrance. WARNING!! Apparently this happens quite a lot, so if you go there, take care.I have to say, the views from the Dome are amazing. Only problems are that you are not allowed to take pictures from certain places (of course these happen to be the places where you could probably get the best shots), and there are a lot of people there. I had a couple of drinks, took my photos and admired the amazing view, then left.TIP!! I think that it would be a great place to go around 5:30pm, for great sunset pictures over Bangkok.Anyway, its now 2:10am, I can't sleep and I have a 5:30 alarm call (I fly to Chiang Mai in the morning),so I have decided to post this journal and some of the pics that I took.....Bangkok084.jpgBangkok088.jpgBangkok098.jpgBangkok108.jpgBangkok120.jpgBangkok121.jpg

Always impressing the view from the State Tower...

It Makes me feel very blue though... My last four years in Bangkok I was living at the 45th floor of the Sathorn House, is the white skyscraper portrayed in the fourh pictures... and every single night for four years I used to smoke my last cigarette before to bed having this view in my eyes...

Great to get such a clear night, my brother's condo was on Sathorn facing onto that building but i could never get a clear pic, always a haze in the sky! I always wondered what it was like up there.

Nice pics!

Thanks for nice comments everyone, but the view is so great that anyone can take good pictures there.

bCool.. I always try and carry my little pocket camera (Canon Ixus 860is) with me everywhere. You never know what you might see.

jlanne...You don't have to eat there, just buy a drink. I looked at the menu and it is EXPENSIVE.

Another funny thing, I stood by the edge of the Sky Bar on the 64th floor and there was no breeze, not even a little bit, but if you put your hand out past the edge of the glass, you can feel strong wind blowing straight up from the ground below. Weird.
