Crustyjuggler
Ebay is a good place for lomo cameras and pretty cheap, but lomo photography is a real hit and miss affair and hard to get good results.. For a quick fix you can download and instal various lomo plugins which you can apply to your existing digital photos.. A simple google will find you those. I have lomo presets for Lightroom which are pretty easy to install and use but you can download them for all types of photo editing software. Kitschiguy
Lomo cameras are really cheap to buy anyway - some are less than £40 in the UK, (online price, don't buy from the Lomo website) maybe a bit more in Thailand but I'm not too sure. I saw a Diana Mini in Hong Kong the other day for around £45 and I saw one in UK for around £35. The good thing is, is that you can get 35mm film fairly cheap now. I buy it online in the UK for less than 1 pound per roll and you can use expired film too which is even cheaper as the idea with 'Lomography' is that the effects you get from poorly made cameras, light leaks etc are desirable. It's not too difficult to get some interesting results, it gives you some excuse to break some rules. http://microsites.lomography.com/dianamini/ this is a cool little camera - It was made by a company in Hong Kong and was re-issued by Lomo along with this one http://microsites.lomography.com/diana/ I think most people go for Holgas though - there are quite a lot to choose from and they all have slightly different effects - coloured lenses, double-frame etc. There are lots of groups dedicated to Lomography on flickr too. This is the Lomo one http://www.flickr.com/photos/lomographicsocietyinternational There are tons of websites and societies out there - have a dig around and see what you find By the way - what on Earth has happened to this website. Karnie
lomo is about the effect & result of film cameras but nowadays you can get exactly same effect by photoshop program although i myself prefer shooting by film cameras as it's more fun than doing it by some program. Lomo cameras are not that expensive except the Horizon Kompakt and Perfekt. I own 5-6 cameras that consider lomography. I have pictures both on flickr and lomography website and some on my journal here such as http://www.thailandfriends.com/index.php?name=Journal&view=journal&jid=62212&juid=80099 http://www.thailandfriends.com/index.php?name=Journal&view=journal&jid=62834&juid=80099 http://www.thailandfriends.com/index.php?name=Journal&view=journal&jid=66781&juid=80099 http://www.thailandfriends.com/index.php?name=Journal&view=journal&jid=66624&juid=80099 http://www.thailandfriends.com/index.php?name=Journal&view=journal&jid=62903&juid=80099 Most of my lomo cameras bought from fotoguffy shop located on Sam-yan Chu-la soi 50 and at Lomography Embassy Store Bangkok located on Sukhumvit 39 (Prompong). have fun shooting. cheers. PiAnt
Should I be looking for a particular type of camera strap to do lomography? And, if I happened to be stopped by a policeman whilst carrying my "lomo" gear, would I get away with a 100 baht fine, or should I hold out for more? Any help much appreciated.
