I shall be returning to Thailand next month for at least a few weeks,, and I realize that I shall be there during Songkran. Now, I have heard good things and bad things about Bangkok during this festival. The bad is that you can get drenched when you are just trying to go about your business. Some Thais, and some Farangs, will have no respect to your wishes that you don't want to get squinted or worse, drenched. Yet, I have also read/heard that Songkran can be a lot of fun. So, how crazy is it? Do I need to worry about getting soaked when I don't want it, or just join in the fun (but not getting water on those who clearly don't want it) and get the biggest water gun I can find?
