Before you start any diet or health regime get professional medical advice.

There are many myths with regards to the over consumption of carbs (for carbodydrate to turn into fat you would have to eat an extraordinary amount, and this usually refers to processed carbs or sugary ones, as opposed to starch. Although in theory all carbohydrate is sugar)

The most important thing is to reduce the amount of saturated fat you consume. This is found in full fat dairy products, chocolate, ice cream any food cooked in vegetable oil. Mono and poly-unsaturated fats are much better but they still contribute to your daily amount (for a woman i think it's about 70 grms per day.

For protein, complete proteins are best i.e. Ones that contain all of the amino acids. Lean meat, egg white, fish etc.

Also hit the 'super foods'. These are foods that contain a bit of everythibg and virtually no water such as lentils :) And eat as much fruit and veg as you like.

And lastly, excercise for at least 20 mins 3 times per week. This means raising yout heart beat, not running a marathon! :)

You could also try .. ahem .. a martial art such as kung fu. Good for the mind also :D

Good luck and have fun!!!

Go to India! I lost 9 kg on 4 weeks there. My mom didn't recognize me when I came back

I can vouch for this it worked for me and I wasn't even trying!!!

That's funny. I went to India and put on weight, The food is fantastic there.

p.s. resistance training increases your metabolism for longer than cardiovascular training, and having more muscle will increase your metabolic rate permanently so you'll be able to eat more! :)

A lot of meanie comments in here :(

Just hit up the swimming ool, and the salads!

You can't 'just' do anything. The human body is designed, in evolutionary terms to horde fat as it's much more useful during a famine. It will break down muscle and use it as energy if it needs to. When a person tries to loose weight, the body sometimes thinks a famine has hit and will try to store the fat.

Dieting and loosing weight is effectively 'tricking' the human body into burning fat. It isn't at all easy but can be done when you know how and are prepared to excercise.

eat 5 times ( 5 small portions) a day - not over 1,500 kilo caloreis and excercise 3-5 times a week.

i have managed to lose a stone since last april., and i didnt even do serios excercise. (though, i have to keep up with 2 boys in my place)

make sure

- your breakie is high in fibre : try 9 grain, wholemeal bread with fresh fruit and low fat milk/yogurt.

- have fish every 2 days.

- dont have dinner after 7.00 pm - make sure your dinner is a light diet.

No it's not easy. I've been trying to shake a couple of kilo's for months now. Literally less than 5kg. I am NOT afraid of exercise, at all.

I do cardio 2 - 3 times a week (usually spinning - I find it more motivating that doing it on my own, and I challenge myself more when I've got someone to 'compete' with). I don't slack off - I push hard in every class.

Resistance training - I've gotten a bit slack with this, mainly because you've gotta compete with the boys to get a bench! Spend a lot of time waiting for equipment - lose motivation. I've been doing a weights- based class 1 - 2 times a week.

Diet: I can't remember when last I had a burger or a pizza. (Actually, I lie, let's just skip the xmas holiday  ) I eat thai food 99% of the time ....)

SO how come I can't budge those last kilos? It's driving me nuts!

To the OP, 10kg in about 3 weeks? You're putting way too much pressure on yourself. Do it the healthy way for YOURSELF not your ex. .....

I really understand you how u feel cos i have been thru the same problem too! But i can tell u that taking pills from the clinic wont help u in a long run. It only works when u take the pills. U will lose lots of weight quickly, but it has bad side effects. For example, u will get moody easily, u will want to throw up and feel not hungry all the time. Most importantly, u WILL GAIN ALL THE WEIGHT BACK OR EVEN DOUBLE UR WEIGHT when u stop taking pills! I used to be very heavy but i have lost some weight. What i am suggesting you is that eat LESS CARB, this really helps, and eat more PROTEIN and more veggies and fruits (green apples, oranges, pineapples, guavas) like chicken breasts, fishes. You will lose weight very quickly if u do this. If you have time after work, try to go to gym 3 days a week and burn 500 calories each day. This shoudl take u about 2.30-3 hrs per each session. And what i do is counting calories in take and sum up how much u eat at the end of the day and i sent a limit at maximum 1000 cals each day (well this sounds crazy but it helps me think before eating). Also avoid having drinks that contains calories such as soda, beer, juice, but low fat milk is recommended cos ur body need calcium. After a few months, u will start to see the result. Whether or not u will be successful with triming urself down, it all depends on ur determination. This is a time consuming thing and it takes a lot of patience. So please dont give up if u dont see the result for the first few weeks, i promise if u keep doing it, it will really work and this is a healthy way! There is no shortcut to good things ;)....To sumarize what i suggested u to do

1. Eat less carborhydrate and eat more protien (no fat)

2. Count calories intake at the end of the day

3.Do not drink calories drinks such as soda, beer, juices (if it contains lots of sugar), coffee

4.Go to gym regularly and burn at least 500 cals /session, at least 3 days a week and ask personal trainers how to lift weights; it's good not to have ur body lose it's firmness, exercise helps loads)

5. try to eat dinner before 5 p.m.

I hope u can make it suzi! :D
