Mazzy
Well I?m bored with tonight?s forums, so here is my attempt at starting an interesting one : We are back in time to September 11th, 2001, New York City. It is now 09:50 AM, you are slowly dying from the heat on the 100th floor of the north tower of the World Trade Center. People are starting to jump out of the windows to avoid the scorching heat. Your cell phone is about to run out of batteries, you have one phone call left to make? You know it will likely be your last one. Who do you call? What do you say? Mazzy
will call mom.. to tell her "I love her" and ask her to pass "I love you and take good care" to my family and bf. Understandable choice...But still I wonder, maybe I would feel so upset and betrayed by the world politics and politicians that I would call the american embassy or the FBI or something to release my anger  . Try to make a last political statement before the end... If I decided to make a personal call, I wouldn't know who to pick (family, friend, love...)... The sad part is that the story really happened to some of my friends...
tech_noir
Would call some major media to tell the to as much as possible people live what really happens in there.
unknown_user
Wow. Good one, and yuk. I thought about this kind of thing before and I said it would be my mum; even though we generally don't have a great relationship ("ok", at best)... she would appreciate it the most and it'd be very important to her that I chose her. Of course as Sassy said, I'd give her some messages to pass on to people. Love to family and particular friends.
smartass
the battery might die before i could think straight or stepped over by others... but yea prob mom..... question: why mom generally comes before...dad...wife or husband?
Mazzy
question: why mom generally comes before...dad...wife or husband? Well actually it's 3 against 2... Maybe I should have turned this into a trivia question. I don't necessarily think that everyone would call their mother first. I actually think most guys would call their mom and most girls their father... Call it the persistance of The Oedipus Complex... In my case though, I can be selfish sometimes... So I guess in this case, I would be more interested in bitching against the structure than in saying goodbyes to my family (hopefully they already know how I feel about them from the live we've had together)... SweetDream89
Humm... I couldn't think of how i would ask, yeah probably i might call mom, but ah... would she believe me that i would gonna die. So she might be yelling at the phone and command me to talk on slower speed....and then Booooooom.m.m.mmm i would be dead before i've known it. Wow...that's great. Thx, mom. bryanwhat
If I could fully grasp the hopelessness of the situation I would definitely would call my mom, and I'm sure my dad wouldn't be far away......say some last goodbyes and wait for the phone to cut out. Princess
F*ck calling somebody, I would be doing my damnedest to find a way out of there Yeah for sure but if I knew the situation was truly hopeless, I'd call and say something because for those left behind, not knowing is worse than knowing. Luckily not everybody in the US is as dumb as you are... Otherwise this country would be in an even worst position than it actually is. If you had bothered to read my second post you would have seen that I meant no disrespect whatsoever with this post. 3 very good collegues of mine were working in a law firm on top of that tower... I like to think that they would be happy to see me question what happened to them and what they must have been going through. As for you, your pathetic pro-Bush aggressive attitude is not welcome on TF. You would have realized this by now if you had bothered reading some of the forums lately. So why don't you go play little soldier somewhere else...In Irak maybe?

It's cathartic . If you can't laugh you cry buddy.....simple as that . Should we start up on the conspiracies again ?...Got a good debunking of the debunkers...it's called "jenga" (kidding..I'm not opening pandora's box again) . zeusbheld
I would call my mom and tell her I'll meet her in heaven.Speaking of Sept 11th, do you know what you were doing when you heard the news? This might only be for those who where in the states at the time. i was sleeping. 13th street and 8th avenue. a friend called and said "turn on the TV." i did, just in time to see the first building collapse. my window faced into an air shaft (not much of a view, but quiet) so there wasn't much point looking out the window to see what was happening 2.25 miles away. i didnt rush down and volunteer to help with the rescue and cleanup as i have no useful skills, and things came together very quickly. i know a lot of people who were there digging bodies or parts thereof out of the rubble though. i spent the day calling relatives and friends, telling relatives that i was alright and finding out if any friends in the city were missing, relaying information, etc. first person i called was my dad. i'd imagine that if i'd been on the floor above the plane i'd still call my dad first. amazingly considering that i was doing graphics in investment banks, and knew a lot of graphics people around town, and a fair number of bankers, NONE of my friends died. a friend of mine lives on king street in soho, top floor. he saw the first plane flying low directly overhead. it was incredibly loud, according to steve. the plane was full-throttle. you never hear airliners going full-throttle in every day life. clearly this was something very very bad. my cousin's sister in law was working in tower #2 when the plane hit tower #1. there was a 'remain calm' announcement, she said '**** that' and was out of that building before they even shut the subway down. by the time the second plane hit, she was back on long island. my friend bart lived in battery park city--the apartment building across the street from the wtc. they watched everything from the second plane crashing onward, from his rooftop. can't imagine it was entirely safe when teh buildings were collapsing. after the collapse, it looked like the end of the world. like all of manhattan was gone, except for BPC, which was on the tip next to the hudson river. they went downstairs and tried to get a cop to help. the cop was panicked and thought it to be the end of the world. eventually they were evacuated to jersey city by ferryboat. the first couple days everyone in new york was talking to each other. met a guy in a diner who was close friends with the two brothers who ran cantor-fitzgerald. one of them was late for work because he was dropping his kids off at school. the other was most likely vaporized. for about a week i needed to show ID to get across 14th street. the first day or two though you could go all the way to the crater. but after they got organized you could only go as far as canal street. if you lived below canal you could still get pretty close to the crater though. i didnt try after the first day as i figured my contribution should be to stay the **** out the way. the eeriest thing, the most haunting memory of the whole thing: there were fliers everywhere. 'have you seen this person? " what floor the person worked on, etc. 3 thousand people doesn't seem like a lot until you see every wall covered with pictures of them. as people gave up hope, these fliers became like markers for a mass grave. The sympathy around campus was entirely universal at first . It was horrific , people questioned god , everything stopped , they gasped , many even cried for our american brothers and sisters . Mere weeks later we were all marching with anti U.S.A slogans with serious hatred and anger in our hearts . That's how badly Bush dealt with it .
