Hello you, Farangs !

I read from one girl wrote her story in the book about the waiter of one fine restaurant Bangkok down town left the door slammed her face just because he saw other customers approaching into the restaurant, he was hurried to go greeting reception them, they were farangs.

That girl babbled about the privilege services farangs had and the way she and her Thai family has been treated during that dinner. I think many Thai people have been faced the situation like this including me.

While I was looking for a blush-on (cosmetic) at MAC, Central Chidlom. Seemed BA (Beauty Advisor) enjoyed her job providing her advices until 2 farangs female stepped in to her counter, she suddenly left me..lolz..no more advices till I told her which one I picked and paid.

So, I want to ask you, Farangs. Do you really enjoy being treated as a particularly valued customer ? Do You happy to see they leave other customers, approach to you ready for any services you ask for?

Why is that ? Bigger tip or what ?

.. I dont think they have 2 different price list menus for the customer in the restaurant. We, thai, pay same price for same dish ordered !

i've been to any number of restaurants that will add extra onto the bill for farang groups- as it is listed in thai they think that as farangs we will pay it without query!! very rarely do we receive an apology when we point out their 'error' to them!!

...It's amazing how many farangs have never been ripped off in their own country, statistically there should be a large majority who realise that "padding of bills" and general overpricing is common place everywhere..

....that's true isn't it? Or is it just me?

......I went into Mc Donald's on Damstrat a few months back and was charged for 2 cheeseburgers, when i ordered a cheeseburger and a hamburger...

.....an easy mistake, or was it?

...I'm still mulling

Yes, it's great being treated differently....... :D

I have just found out today that Thai people pay 2000b a month rent less for the exact same condo where i live........

It's easier to ripp a farang off than a Thai, so that's probably why they want to " help " the farang.

Ahhhh, that must be why here in Min Buri at the local internet cafe it says " Internet 30b an hour " then in Thai script it says " people Thai 15b an hour"

I forgot i live in a tourist trap.........

I think farang know too much........

........am I missing the point or are we talking about people being upset by being charged slightly more than nationals?

....is it a pride thing? it must be....

....surely if you're that worried and you realise the error you can ask your retailer "why is the bill so high?"

....after some shuffling of paper and some diversion tactics, you will be given the actual bill and asked never to come again...

....generally these "errors" only happen to occur when people are drunk or so caught up in their hedonistic lifestyle compared to their homeland social life that the establishment "decide" that you won't miss a few baht and that having to put up with your bullshit (BS) was considered a surcharge...

..am I wrong?

...or is every Farang that comes to Thailand so polite and respectful that Thai society as a whole is CLEARLY taking advantage of these poor individuals and leaving them pennyless on the street?

Slightly off topic but have you ever noticed that some Thais (and some Thais only) wander around believing that they have the God given right to be served before everyone else. They walk right up to the front of queues at check in desks, banks, golf courses, wave aside the existing customers and demand attention.

This usually comes from pot bellied micro celebs from the police force or army but all sorts of other twats try it on....

...queing systems in Thailand run on social hierachy......

..........you are a farang, miles from home...........where do you come?

.......fight for your place in the que.........abolish social norms of women and children first....then you may not have to wait so long.

...moreover....when I am in a situation where the waitress/attendant/clerk, whatever, obviously leaves a Thai to serve me, I outright refuse the service and tell them to finish with the Thai.

Have you ever paid farang prices Bigkus?

...FYI.... queing...is a concept totally alien to most asian cultures...i've been knocked aside by little old ladies in Thailand, Korea, China, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia....EVERYWHERE....they've no concept of it.

But to be fair to be Bigkus...

If I was a Thai living in Thailand I would certainly be ranting about the farangs. For a start the country allows any old dross to come here, and stay literally for ever. Lets face it, they litter the country, abuse the women (and the little boys by all accounts) and make parts of the country virtually no go areas.

Virtually every country I know discriminates against foreigners - Thailand simply discriminates (if at all) far less than virtually anywhere else. Where else are you welcomed into the best clubs (Bangkok Sports/Polo/Rajapruek), best restaurants etc. with little or no discrimination?

If I was a Thai and I was running this country I would kick out half the farang and make it a darn site harder for them to get in. Look at Thais - just how easy it for them to get visas for entry into european countries or the USA?

...signed, sealed, delivered.......

...there we go.............does that constitute "post mortem".

...or is anyone going to expand?

...jesus.........go to Japan and see how you survive as a "gajin"

......go to Mumbai and try and order a curry from a street vendor

......go to Burma and be a marked man

...go to England, sign on, and earn a hefty income off the social security, nearly a third more than nationals......

..........."a stanger in a strange land"

...or anyone going anywhere.............and not having his shoes shined, doesn't mean the world's against him!!

BIGKUS you REALLY Have a problem with white people being in ''your'' country this is not the first time you have sobbed on about how ''whitey'' gets treated better than you. GET OVER IT!

i actually find it refreshing to see thais whining about farrangs now and then, given all the threads devoted to farrangs whining about how they're oppressed in thailand on this and other thai-related websites.
