    • Outrageous! they should be ashamed of themselves!
    • Well, don't they have better, more efficient options accessible with their money and fame?

I didn't say it, she did...

Those PETA chicks kill me everytime, really... Of all the good reasons and all the different ways of protesting against things happening in China in the context of the olympics, US swimmer Amanda Beard had to choose this.

I mean, I like the picture and all, and I'm sure that it would work really well in a calendar, but the message kind of loose itself in all those... hum... curves. (and please was it really necessary to add the american flag in the background...)

What do you think?

since when was there a organization for

PEOPLE EATING TASTY ANIMALS. hell where can i join and what animal do we eat first??

If you joining means you are going to take your kit off as well then some people (read humanity) might have a radical rethink in as far as that some bodies should be covered up at all times even if that means skinning cute, little furry animals to do so. :P

I don't mind her being naked...but I disagree with this -

"The Olympics are a great forum for me to use to get my message out."

her message= her boobs :D

I mean, seriously, you're supposed to leave politics outside of the event.

That's it.

No nakedness it seems but many protests including a thousand reportedly arrested in Kathmandu;

THOUSANDS of people in Asia and Europe took part in human rights protests last night as China launched the Beijing Olympics with a dazzling, three-hour opening ceremony.

Demonstrators took to the streets of cities including London, Brussels, Berlin, Kathmandu, Bangkok and Hong Kong on issues ranging from the crackdown in Tibet to Beijing's support for the military junta in Burma.

In Delhi, Tibetan Buddhist monks tried to storm the heavily guarded Chinese embassy complex. As police tackled the Tibetan exiles, some monks ran through the barricades towards the embassy walls but were stopped and taken into custody.

Activists across the world are using the Games to pressure Beijing over its rule of Tibet and heavily Muslim Xinjiang province, the arrests of dissidents, censorship and concerns about Chinese foreign policy.

At least 1000 Tibetans including scores of monks and nuns were arrested in Kathmandu during a protest against Beijing's rule of the Himalayan region.

The initiative that received perhaps the most attention, however, was in Beijing itself, where a group advocating media freedom pirated a radio frequency and broadcast criticisms of China in Mandarin, French and English.

The 20-minute broadcast, organized by Reporters Without Borders, began about 8 a.m., 12 hours before the Olympic opening ceremony. Using miniature FM transmitters and antennas, Robert Ménard, head of the media advocacy group, and a number of Chinese dissidents called for free speech and worldwide demonstrations during the opening ceremony.

"This is the first nonstate radio broadcast in China since the Communist Party took power in 1949," Ménard said.

  • 2 weeks later...

It seems that women had to strip naked to participate in for some of the positions in the Olympics opening ceremony! Part of the demeaning application process it seems......

Opening ceremony: The naked truth (dpa) 17/08/08

Beijing - Thousands of young Chinese women applicants for the 200 jobs to lead each country's athletes into the National Stadium for last week's opening ceremony of the 2008 Olympic Games had to be at least 1.66 metres tall, have a pretty face - and strip naked for the job recruiters.

The Beijing News, in a story detailing the latest opening-ceremony outrage, said stripping naked for measurements was a requirement merely to apply for the position. Thousands of young women from colleges and dance academies in Beijing competed for the chance to appear before a huge worldwide audience.
