MisterMatlock
I find this story really quite gross.http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/7556058.stm "After several tests, we decided to put Lin Miaoke on the live picture, while using Yang Peiyi's voice," he told the radio station. "The reason for this is that we must put our country's interest first," he added. "The girl appearing on the picture must be flawless in terms of her facial expression and the great feeling she can give to people." Are you really surprised by the Chinese "nationalistic logic" here? I can't remember a time seeing a little girl singing and thinking that her "performance" was marred by her not being "flawless" looking...

thaibel
It's Milli Vanilli f**ked....But eh every moron could see every performance was mimed in that ceremony. So, all the people all over the world and all press who witnessed the ceremony (and were impressed just like billions of spectators) were complete morons and you and some other posters here are the non-morons? Anyway it's just a show, a theatre whatever you'll call it. And every producer would be sure his show is complete and would foresee doom scenarios to prevent it's messed up for whatever reason. If you go to a movie scenes are taken and retaken numerous time, so-called expositions ate made on a scale, all dangerous scenes are done by stuntmen ..... what's the big deal. Not sure how a movie having retakes pertains to the quote from the head of the ceremony... Had to have a "good looking" little girl "sing" the anthem "for the best interests of the country". Loburt
Potemkin China. I think it's wrong. Especially as it involved children. What's the girl who actually sang supposed to think about herself? She's too ugly to represent China? Why isn't China proud of her?
Loburt
Some of the fireworks were faked too: But to achieve the spectacular, Mr. Zhang faked not only the song; organizers also have admitted that one early sequence of the stunning fireworks shown to television viewers was actually created using digitally enhanced computer graphics for ?theatrical effect.? --NY Times. Loburt
The Times story said it wasn't clear if she knew what the audience was hearing wasn't her own voice. Don't blame either of the kids. It wasn't their doing.
