PeeMarc
for what it's worth I thought DO_IT's appraisal of TF was pretty much spot on . I actually think a lot of people agreed too. But too nancy to say so. I actually agreed with some of it too and thought it hilarious.

dannyboy
MisterMatlock... Every time I give someone a card, do I really have to explain myself to you? The silence? I said I have nothing more to say. When I wasn't a Mod, if one said to me that's it, move on. Sure as hell I would disagree but instead of page upon page of piffle ,I would just think is it really worth it? In your case you choose to argue about moot points and things, that let's be honest , concern the Mod and the member involved, not you. Look at me now, still trying to explain pages later. You don't have to respect me at all if you so wish but try and respect the position of Moderator. As I said before, I am not here to spoil your fun but people cannot go around saying what they wish. I could go on and on and on...But in all honesty, I genuinely can't be bothered.

LakeGeneve
Freedom of speech is an important principle ... i wondered how long it would be before that popped up... when people stop being responsible for their comments because "its not real life or real people" do they still deserve to enjoy such freedoms? You have taken the quote out of context; Freedom of speech is an important principle especially in a country where censorship of the internet is growing. A bit of criticsm of TF is hardly something to be afraid of especially if most members can judge that the poster is obviously predisposed to a negative generalisation. Just ignore it. Yes everyone has responsibility but the value of forums is that there should be more scope in expression, even by trolls. Who is really harmed by the two posts??? Did the mod get copious PMs complaining that the pure image of TF had been desecrated? Comments like that should not cause offence to any reasonable person on TF. Stimulate debate, agreement or ridicule perhaps but not warrant a yellow card. And if you believe it is a fake member then ban the profile as would be the normal course of action. I don't give a toss about the member but the apparent randomness in issuing yellow cards by some mods is concerning and may stifle some of the more diverse/creative/weird inputs on TF. Yes I agree new mods should be given some slack and as I said to dannyboy I personally appreciate that he has been trying to improve the tone and conduct on some threads. (I'm not so sure that new members are also always given slack). And I explicitly stated that being a Mod is an arduous and invidious task so compassion is there but no one forces anyone to do it. But many members join TF and start slowly, feel their way before posting or starting a thread. I would think the approach of a new mod would be somewhat likewise, as I have seen with Cherrie and Nicky, and I think zeus gave some good advice a few weeks ago. If you start with an obvious agenda to change things quickly and use the 'stick approach', then sooner or later your going to hit yourself. I'm not trying to weild a big stick, loads of stuff I let go. But everyone is up-in-arms about a troll who has constantly attacked members and also TF itself. If he really doesn't like it, why be a member in the first place? It's all a bit too negative for a newby! Obviously he is an ex member with an axe to grind and don't you just know he will be loving this. What happened? He got a yellow card! He will be back in a few days and maybe it will be business as usual, who knows? I don't understand all the sympathy for the guy. The only thing I can think is that people wanted him around so they could argue some more. I have not got an obvious agenda, just trying to keep things on topic (if possible) and keep the flaming down to a minimum. I actually do appreciate what you have to say LG, you always come across as well thought out and not just here to have a go... dannyboy.

English_Bob
Woh... just tuned in! I need one of those "Previously on TF..." lines every time I log on! So I just read back all the posts... I also thought the guy was an ex-member with an axe to grind. I didn't care that he called me a loser (and all the other stuff). I thought DannyBoy's card was funny... I just don't see cards as a big deal. What happened? A guy came on a free website, shot his mouth off a bit and now has three days in the sin bin to cool down. He's probably got a life outside of TF forums to be getting on with anyway. There are bigger/funnier things to write about... aren't there? Goddamn I hope so!
