I think it sucks, but in a way i like it cos im a Liverpool fan, and i can't really stand MU. So it's gonna be nice seeing Owen not deliver there, as he has been not that good lately.... years since he was playing well. Heard it was only Stoke and Hull who had a spot for him, until Sir Alex called him up and offered him a job! Amazing...

Well, what do you think??

2 goals against part timers in pre-season friendlies is nothing .... will be interesting to see how much playing time he actually gets at ManUre this season !!!

I think Tony is correct and Ah Sir has made a blinding deal.

I feel OWEN will be the ultimate impact sub and pick up lots of goals. I am sure he will relish this eventually and especially as it may keep him more injury free to be used as a sub sparingly and may even extend his career in the top flight...

I am looking forward to following his contribution...

Sir Alex has just been given the go ahead to spend 60 mil of the 80 he got for Ronaldo.

Not sure how much he'll spend on players and how much on club maintenance, but I hope to see a fast forward on the shopping list... I love Rooney and Giggs, but they don't have the pace of Ronaldo.

I'd also like a dead ball specialist and someone with skill in the air....

Hmmm a fast striker, dead ball specialist and an aerialist?

...we'd better buy Ronaldo back.

One thing that's always bothered me is our corners suck. When Beckham took corners, I used to get excited, but these days we don't seem to make enough of the opportunity.

Oh? Owen? Too early to make my mind up. I like him, but I'm not sure he's suitable for Man U.

Still the price was right, so maybe he's worth a flutter. I bet he'll give 100% every minute he's on the pitch... last chance in the big league etc.

typical United fan spin. i bet you thought Veron was an astute buy, and Berbaflop is better than Tevez (or Drogba, or...)

if you sign someone suddenly it's the most astute buy EVER. if someone tells United to **** off then suddenly they were **** sall along, even to the dozens of fans with his number on their shirt, and the mongs who made the 'sign him up Fergie' banners (tevez comes to mind).

this sort of publicly masturbatory self-congratulation is best kept amongst United fans as it has a lot to do with why United fans are perceived as smug plastics by everyone who *isn't* a United fan.

compare and contrast with English Bob's posts about United. he's obviously no less commited to United (probably a lot more) yet he makes an effort to be objective. makes for much better reading, although i do enjoy laughing at the typical United fan circle-jerks, especially when a signing turns out to be bad (remember Veron?)

for real or paper talk? from what i've seen it looks like a spin campaign--the message has been pretty consistently "we *could* spend the money but we don't want to. we're satisfied with what we've got."

although to be fair, it's not like United have gaps they desperately need to plug.

given that is not an option, seems to me you don't have much choice but to do it a la carte (as Fergie has done so far).

One thing that's always bothered me is our corners suck. When Beckham took corners, I used to get excited, but these days we don't seem to make enough of the opportunity.

miss beckham has hinted at interest in returning to the prem. he could actually be useful at times for you lot, if you don't mind that the squad starts to look like a bunch of bargain-basement pensioners.

finally a sensible opinion on Owen from a United fan.

bottom line is that he's been **** last few seasons but all you need from him is 10-15 goals at key times and it's a good buy. the effort will be there coz he was desperate enough to print up a brochure, he'll want to make good.
