Chatty
I'm having problem with my car Nissan NV AD resort indeed. It seems like it had no power to speed up. I have to spend time for a while. I went to see the handy man.. he said it might have automatic gear problem. I have to spend about 1xxxx for that. grrrrr... but it would be better if I replace the whole engine. It's 3x,xxx baht. Have you ever done the engine replacement? Any problem after that? I really really dumb, don't know anything about car engine... I don't know how to take care of it. I just know how to drive. hmm please don't tell me to by a new car, cuz I will do it next year. Plus my dad asked me not to sell this one... he love it so much. There is a HUGE place in Nonthaburi that is filled with second hand car engines, and is well known at least by taxi drivers as *the place* to replace engines. Soi Sirichai...know it? That's as far as my engine replacement knowledge goes.

rilly
You can get an entire engine replaced for 30,000??? That seems like a pretty good price to me, but i would still follow up on whatever the taxi drivers do... they would probably know.. -RiliNJuh!! trocks69
go to a real mechanic who knows what he is doing. a simple compression test on the engine will tell you if it is going bad. kind of fishy that he fixs transmission then says it might be the engine. i dont know the car, dont know the age or mileage of it so its hard to tell what is wrong online. simple things like a tune up, disconeted vacum line, dissconeted spark plug or the valves might be leaking oil, maybe cam is going bad. or ignition or computer problem. best bet go to a real mechanic and get a second opinion ---not a handyman would you replace your heart on the word of a first aid technician or go to a real doctor
toma
trocks69 is dead right! btw.. I am pretty sure the gear is not the problem.

Nong 1 kha, when you do that engine replacement, please keep in mind that many (up to most) engines you see in those local car shops are secound-handed engines from Japan. (my uncle is in the business, btw but he doesn't sell to private). You have to find a shop that you can trust or get someone who knows about engine to help you. Get a second opinion na kha. Don't jump in any "good" offer too quickly.
