The Amazing Race 2008

PhotobucketDear allAs some of you are aware, we are going to Baan Kru Noi (http://www.moobankru.com/bankrunoi_Eng/e_menu1.html) again on December 21. Last time, we had so much fun, putting a smile on each kid’s face, all thanks to Ghee. This time, due to his work-related issues, he won’t be able to organize it, therefore I am now taking his place, and what I decided to do this time is to throw a party called To You from Us: Thailand Friends Christmas Party at Baan Kru Noi.  The kids will be served lunch, ice cream, plus beverages. Then we all will play some games; do some fun activities to keep the kids entertained, plus anything else we can think of.

Last time, we raised funds through an auction. Just to remind you of that event, please kindly click on the following link;

To raise funds, we decided to bring back Thailand Friends Charity Pub Crawl. For those who did not join this event, again, please kindly click on the following link for more details;

However, this time it is going to be different. This event would be called “The Amazing Race”. This event would be held on Friday 19th, December from 7.30 pm onwards. To participate in this charity event, it costs 500 baht per team. We would first meet at Larry’s Dive, Sukhumvit Soi 22 at 7.00 pm.  07.30 pm – 08.00 pm: Pick your team mate from a random hat drawing 08.00 pm – 08.30 pm: Each team to map out their own route. 08.30 pm: The Race starts

Rules:

Each team will consist of two people. 

You have to visit 10 bars. Each bar will serve one alcoholic drink for each person. Teams of two have to race around Bangkok drinking one drink in each bar.  

You may use any form of transport you like. BTS, MRT, Tuk Tuk, Motorbike Taxi, normal taxi, running etc. 

The 10th pub will be Larry’s dive, and the winner will be the first team to return to Larry’s dive, and to finish one drink there. 

Each team MUST get a card signed by a Manager in each pub to say they have actually had their drink. 

Each team member will be responsible for paying for their own drinks at normal prices. However, negotiations are currently being taken care of, and two pubs have already agreed to donate 50% of all drinks sales for all teams to our party for the Orphans.  

Also, please note that the list of ten pubs and bars will be announced the night of the event, and all money raised at this event will be donated to kids at Baan Kru Noi.

Possilby the best idea i've ever heard.. want to do this sooo bad but i'm in the UK :(

Are the drinks set?? Might be a good idea to list 10 different drinks i.e. Pint of Guinness, shot of tequila etc etc and the contestants can choose which bar to do them in... Photos for proof also helps.

Might be good to have contestants put 2 bar names into a hat and choose them that way (within a 2-3 mile radius)... then noone will have an advantage and you would get a decent diversity... possibly the odd hooker bar thrown in :P I would go for the top bar at Baiyoke Sky Tower.. hehe just think it would be hilarious bunches of drunks sprinting through the foyer area... :):)

Damn it I really wanna do it :(
