I couldn't believe that I told someone like this... "You know what? you guys are useless"After I went to do annual check up today... I found a post card on my table from Government Housing Bank. It says that I should contact Khun Urairat ASAP. I didn't know what's wrong, indeed.I called her, and waited on the line so long long time... then she picked up the phone asked me about my GH bank account. I told her my account number, then she said I have to pay the bank 65,000 baht! Damn stupid CRAZY stuff I have ever heard in my life.I said "No way, I got mortgage 600,000 baht from your bank about 6 years ago... and I paid monthly thru my bank account directly... I have receipt, and it shows on my salary pay slips"She said "No, we didn't get any information that you pay us for 19 months, you never pay us at all"This time I lost tempure... "So where does my money goes... and how can I get your bank reciepts every month, eh? It's my company benefit to deal with your bank to get the lower interests. At the moment I get my salary it will be transfered to your bank, right? It's automatic,.. so what's wrong with you guys?" She just "hmmmm, let me check, I will call you back later"Me "Later?? How long should I wait? Find out the detail for me today!! I can't believe you guys work like this!!  Damn useless workers, damn it!!  I almost said bad words... cuz I was really really upset... 65,000 baht is big amount for me...Damn it.Then I went to Com. & Ben. Dept. to deal with this problem, find out what's going on. They said I'm not the only one, there some staff got that notice from GHB as well. The Com & Ben sup. called the person that company deal with... It took for a while to find out.The answer was... They changed their bank system, and my name was somewhere they didn't put it as Benefit from my company. It was just my BAD LUCK... So my account gone to the normal person who got mortgage... not in the company name.. DAMN IT!! so they said X,XXX * 19 months + interests... became 65,000 baht.  Then he checked that I paid that amount every month, (SURE, i did!!) but they adjusted the new interest and blaaa blaa blaaaa mean that I should pay more 800 baht / month so I have to pay them 15,200 baht in this month not 65,000 baht. the interest will go down, cuz now it's 13.25% and after I pay 15,200 baht it will came down 1.25% CRAZYIs it my fault?? How I would know that they changed their system to... whatever!! I don't know. No one from the bank gave me this kinda information. So it's my responsibility?? It's so unfair.

I thought people who work for the gov. should be smarter than this... but..GOSH hopeless. I think I was wrong to select this bank.Sorry I wasn't in good mood.. I must write it down here...grrrrrrrrrrr.For people who get mortgage or will get mortgage from GHB be careful na.. keep every document / letter / receipt you got from them.

Big Brother is always right na. You are only second class Thai citizen with very few civil rights, he he.

No matter what happens with the Thai Government, it's always YOUR fault.

Sounds like you have a adjustable interest rate housing loan instead of Fixed interest rate housing loan. Thats why the bank can change the interest rate of your housing loan.

Let hope for betters days ahead :)

first of all, document it all in a letter and send it registered mail (EMS) to the person. the letter should explain exactly what happened and explain it as their fault. then go up the chain to supervisors and so on until you actually get someone who can make a decision about waiving the fees. keep clear records about telephone calls (number, name, date and time and things talked about) and show all this information at every meeting. you have to look like you are gonna sue them. finally you will get someone who can waive the fees. one upset phone call probably wont change much in this case. you should be very professional about it all.

Thks everyone kha... today is my dull day.. I think about my trouble again and again like sound loops.

I will go to the bank and talk to the manager for sure, I still don't get it. Why I have to pay. It doesn't make sense to me at all.

If I have to pay 15200 baht I wanna know every details.

Why I feel I was cheated? I'm feeling that way... it's gov. bank, it suppose to be the bank of nation which ppl can trust...

Think about the people who have no back up, no chance to fight.

My friend told me to get a lawyer.. but you know what it's hard to find a good one. My uncle was cheated by his lawyer, he took money from the both side and let my uncle lose the case which he didn't do anything wrong. Damn it! I don't wanna say ***.

How do you know that the bank employee is not just making the whole story up - as a way to make a little extra money off you on the side? Making up stories to get money is not completely unheard of in Thailand. I would talk to other (higher rankiing) people in the bank if I were you - just to make sure that this is not a scam thought up by a rogue employee.

I agree with PJack 100%. Also don't forget to send copy of the letter to the section of the government that regulates the banks. In the US we have the Federal Reserve Bank, the FDIC, and the OCC at the national level and each state has its own regulators. Make sure the bank can tell you sent these regulators the letter.

smskun.. I hope I can deal with them...don't wanna pay this amount

Sukhumvit_Farang... at first I thought like that... cuz you know what GHB was robbed by their employee this year 2nd May 2009... that guy hacked the bank computer system... steal 400 million bath from the bank. He transferred money which bank have to pay to the customer to his account 9000 baht / day. The postcard that I got, they didn't type but wrote it down... it's hand writing. However, I will find out.

primetime. GHB is the government bank about housing.. so it's hard to deal with them...

1. I think this bank don't care about customers that much... since it's the bank of Thai people.

2. my friends said I should send letter to the office of consumer protection board, they both work for gov. can i sue?

anyway, I will fight... What GHB has done to me now it's so fishy.

They arfen't BANKERS Neung they're W**KERS I was in banking for nearly 40 years and if someone in my department had done something like that I would personally have kicked their a** out of the buildiing.

As for suing them, I don't know enough about Thai banking law to help you, but in Britain you certainly could. If they have lost your account or failedto tell you about any changes then they are at fault. Make a formal complaint to the CEO of the bank

Funny how the bank can make up rules to suit themselves....listen to Sukhumvit_Farang.....it happens all the timew in most countries. Ask for a written

explanation from the bank manager.

Neung, you will need to contact bank CEO or any other Top manager and explain situation in official registered complaint, do not forget include copy of your payments. Normally, bank must give you written explanation FIRST, because "talking" is not official documents.

But, now will be better to prevent problem and attack first. Your mortgage must be checked, payment plan revised and cleared from any of bank errors.

For future, ask payment plan signed and stamped by bank official every month.

PeterH61, I see Thai GH bank is very similar to our Gov't Savings Bank - unfriendly to their customers.
