"Roger Federer breaks down in tears as he makes his winner's speech at the Australian Open follwoing his victory over Marcos Baghdatis. Picture: EPA"

What is with this guy?

Every time he wins a Grand Slam tournament he breaks down and starts sobbing uncontrollably.

Okay, the first time he won I understood. You finally climbed that mountain. But still sobbing like a baby after the seventh freakin' time?

I never knew it was so emotionally wrenching to win a few hundred thousand dollars.

And whatever it is he's trying to say ('I vant to zank mine coach, my agent, my caterer and my masseuse, Ralf you big hunk of man you) only ends up sounding like the high-pitched squealing of a pig in heat and getting some.

I never saw Billie Jean King, Chris Evert, Martina Navratilova, Steffi Graf or Serena Williams cry - even when they lost!

What a wuss.

Ahhh he seems a sentistive guy.

Some ppl cry when they could reach the wonderful, successful moment that they wished. Did u see Miss Universe Contest or something like that? Some gals who were the winner cried out after they were announced to be Miss Universe becoz they were very happy. It's not easy to come to that place. They had to compete with other contestants to be the winner and they were glad that they could finally did it .

Hey Literature,

I understand the Miss Universes sobbing. It's a once in a lifetime thing. This is the seventh freakin' time for Roger already. It's getting a little old, dontcha think?

And notice that you are comparing him to a beauty queen.

Is it the first time he is the champion in this competition ?? I mean Austrelian Open

If so, I think he will probably not sob if he can be the winner again. Who knows it can be a once in a lifetime thing as well

"And notice that you are comparing him to a beauty queen." <<<< I compared their similar feelings, Not their looks :P

Give me one moment in time

When I'm racing with destiny

Then in that one moment of time

I will be, I will be, I will be free

I will be free....

I'm singing hehe soundtrack for his pic

This is the third time he's won the Australian Open, I believe.

"And notice that you are comparing him to a beauty queen." <<<< I compared their similar feelings, Not their looks :P"

I know, that's the point.

Sorry, Loburt it was only his second title in the AO. And maybe he 's sensitive, but he didn't cry because he won the grand slam. The family of his former coach, who died in a car accident in 2002, was there and it was their presence who made him cry.

I've seen him cry three or four times already, eric. And I rarely watch tennis. The coach died more than four freakin' years ago. He's not over it yet?

That's what I call a wuss.

From a South African sports columnist:

"Seven Grand Slam victories on, and Roger Federer, emotion kept to a minimum on court, is still reduced to a sobbing heap every time it comes to receiving the trophy he's added to his growing collection. "

Wuss. With a capital W.

Whatever ......... he's playing in another and higher division than all other players ......... he's from space when he plays tennis. BJ, it's not a few hundred $, for winning a Grand Slam or a Tier I --tournament u get a cheque of more than 1000 (one thousand) dollar .......... I would cry too (--->happiness), lol

no way Pam!! Im not with you in the case you saying Federer is cute!!!! Maybe coz I had to see him on newspaper everyday when i was with my aunt there.. and it made me sick of him .. maybe ... he's white, he got dark hair but still not cute to me.. :P

Dear Loburt... I dun think any man love to cry in front of any other, in this case I bet Roger just cant get over it if he happened to cry out everytime he won.. (well Im not his fan, and not tennis fan) i dun think he's happy to read newspaper after he won for a week.. hehe

or maybe he just dont give a damn?

Haha, funny commentary! Federer is probably the most dominant player in his sport compared to superstars in other sports. He such a good player and a classy dude, that all we can do to criticize him is to call him a cry baby.

Well honestly I really don't have a problem with that Loburt...I just shut off my TV :-P

...as I see it, it's a reaction after ice-cold concentration. And the man brings something to the table...beautiful tennis that is. And what about McEnroe and his bitching??? Embarrassing if you ask me...and I think if you ask Fed himself about it, it's not something he wanna do, it just happens...all in all, I forgive the man showing his emotions when he plays tennis like, I can nearly say, never seen before...I'm a big big fan :-)

Well, Poul, you know I have to agree with you about one thing:

I'd rather watch Roger Federer cry after the match (and yes, I can turn that off) than John McEnroe behave like a completely abusive ass during a match.

Good point.

And Flinca, you are right. He does show a lot of class during interviews, etc.

So stop crying already!!!!
