Amid the chaos, is it safe to travel to Bangkok?

Maybe shopping at Central World is out, and Papong area is no no.

There is still suhkumvit area to prowl around.

Today it is.

Who knows after that?

One night Red Shirts went down as far as Suk 11.

Right now they are behind barricades... When/if the army comes there will be trouble.

Thanks Bob. I understand the PM stays at Suk 31, and the Red had been there.

Didnt know they went to Suk 11. My thai friends said it is safe as of now, but not sure if the situation will get worse, if the Yellow and the multi-color protest against the Red.

Now the things i am afraid of is if the Army really crackdown on the Red, there might be street fights. And it will not only contain in BKK, it might spread to other Province.

I'm 50/50 on whether it's worth me going to BKK at all. Don't fly in until 20th next month so hope it'll be sorted by then. If not may just jump in taxi and totally miss off BKK.

red shirts have some barricades in the country also.

from your countries travel advice....

On 26/27 April there were at least eight incidents in various parts of Thailand involving protestors setting up barricades, in some instances leading to clashes with the security forces. There is escalating tension and the risk of violence across the country.

There have been instances of anti-government activity outside the capital, which have caused disruption to travellers. On 25 April, there were reports of anti-government protestors blocking the Phanyothin Road, 40 km north of Bangkok. In the north-eastern city of Khon Kaen, Red Shirt protestors blockaded a military train on 21 April.
