Has Gulliver's become the defacto TF hangout?

Over the past month or so I've been to Gulliver's Soi 5 quite a few times and each time I've been there I've quite inadvertently bumped into other TF'ers. Most recently it was last night, and there were about a dozen or so TF?ers that I knew.

I must admit that the thought of going out for a meal or a beer and finding fellow TF?ers to chat with or to raise a glass is a good thing.

So what about you? Do you agree that Gulliver?s is fast becoming the unofficial TF hangout? If you had your choice, where would you want to go on any given night and find fellow TF?ers?

I don't really know if its a TF hangout or not. I live in a different part of town KSR area so I don't go there that often. But other than that it seems a good place. Spacious, lots of entertainment, pool, BTS accessible, proximity to Nana ;)

i used to drink in gullivers regularly, but not as often now.

it's a decent bar, reasonably cheap and cold beer, decent-ish pool tables and usually good sports coverage.

on the downside food is distinctly average and it seems to be attracting more and more FL girls ... although some might argue this is not a downside !!

bar i enjoy drinking in occassionally is dubliner ... one of the few irish bars outside ireland i will drink in !!

as for where to meet fellow TF'ers it would definitely depend on which TF'ers u were gonna find !!

well, honestly i've no any comment about it b'cuz i've never gone to the gullivers before :( and also never dated with ppl who i get to know them on TF'ers, So poor me huh??? It's just b'cuz of i'm not a party girl and i hate clubs cuz of it too noisy and have many drunker there :( But no worry i get used about being alone, lol :)

Actually Gulliver's (Soi 5) is a really nice place. New and modern and normally is quiet enough for a normal conversation (unless there is a World Cup match on TV). I know what you mean about noisy places and that's a reason that I enjoy Gulliver's. Good food, drinks reasonably priced, and quiet enough to talk. But if privacy is what you want, don't go there! Too many TF'ers! hehehe

ok gulliver's in soi 5 is a nice bar with moderate priced beers BUT when i go out i look for decent wommen and u don't find them there cause it's still a free lance hang out so thats why I seldom go there..

Tell me (anyone) where the decent women hang out. Until I (and every other man Jack hears this vital information) I would say that this is not a bad situation. Easy to get to, quite nice to meet an impromptu friendly face. How often do people feel they would like to grab a drink with someone at short notice? I think it's quite a good idea and the venue is logistically sound for all sorts of reasons...

Its full of whores and Nigerian conmen. You cant meet a decent gal there nor bring one there.

no freelancers !! :shock: :shock: give it a week or so i guess.

It's Outoforder's house.

awwww .... and i always thought i was just the on-the-way stop....... *Snif*

On-the-way-home perhaps. Extended consumption of alcohol on the salon premises usually seems to be followed by me collapsing into bed.

Preferably without having gotten into an argument with the taxi driver on the way home.

I guess like Gullivers in Khao Sarn it's a place where there are nearly always quite a lot of non-hookers, but they are in the minority by long way.

I think it's fine to go with "decent" women if you are in a group, but it would be a terrible idea for any kind of romantic date.

Layout, convenience, atomsphere, food are all perfectly acceptable... but it's a shame if such an average bar in the middle of the sex district in Bangkok became a defacto TF home. Perhaps it's main advantage is an easy familiarity -- it's just like bars in America or Europe in terms of decor and food (but not the "soft furnishings").

Where to go to meet "decent" women? (there's no mystery about what "decent" means -- someone whose short or long term relationship goal is not purely financial).

Places which are farang-friendly inlcude:

* Pubs and places on soi convent such as Irish Xchange, Coyotes and nearby restaurants and pubs. There are almost no freelance girls unless they come in on the arm of a farang.

* Pubs on silom soi 4 (apart from Noriegas most of the ones deep into the soi are gay and the ones near the mouth are straight)

* Thai places on Khao Sarn road. By that I mean pubs like Molly's that are at least 90% Thai. It might help to speak Thai in these places

* Soi Langsuan

* A few of the trendy Sukumvit places like Bed and Q-bar are acceptable in that the ***** quotient is not as high as the rest of sukhumvit (though I know someone will disagree -- some guys just attract whores :)).

* Soi Thonglor

Most Thai places are not at all intimidating for foreigners and if they are not far from the CBD you'll see a few farang faces in there. I do recommend places like Tawan Daeng (Narathiwat - Ramma III) as being places where you are likely to interact with middle class women who are not setting out with any goal of meeting a foreign man.

For the farang guys who travel from thousands of miles away, I am sure they would like to see places that are a bit more Thai, but the TF girls seem to want to drag them to the places that are most like where they came from. I don't really get that...
