English_George
....I was unable to watch the Russia game last night, partly due to the likelihood that Russia would beat Israel and Croatia would thrash Macedonia.. ....Imagine my surprise when I woke this morning and found myself lying next to a ladyboy!!!! ...then I turned on my computer and was even more surprised to see that Israel won and Macedonia beat Croatia..... .....I didn't check the Scotland score because the last time I looked at the Scottish team sheet I didn't see Jesus in the no. 7 shirt.... ......So, England could even top the group if they have a convincing win next week....... .........the only down side is that McClaren keeps his job........but we all know it was one or the other...and I prefer the qualification lifeline.. ...

English_George
I can't stand the thought of Maclaren's smug little fat red face after England Qualify, I'd love to see them drop him. ...I totally agree...... ..It even says on the BBC....."The table will go down to the last game, as McClaren 'predicted'... ....I mean come on...'predicted'....WTF was he going to say.. ..er "Russia will beat Israel and we will go out"........??? ...If anybody has ridden on the wrong horse without falling off for as long as McClaren I'd like to know!!! ....At least Taylor knew he was a turnip.... ...McClaren's football management skills are about as convincing as his comb over..... ..I love the football and I'm behind the boys....(England football team).... ...but why not take this glorious chance of redemption and sack him for a manager that knows what he's doing??? .."but George, that would actually give us a chance of winning, why would we want to win something? We're all happy making **** songs about 1966 and living in the past. If we actually 'won' a tournament then we wouldn't be able to refer to winning the world cup 40 bloody years ago." ...so bloody English isn't it......"turn the other cheek" "oh, you mean slap Sven in the face because he likes the ladies, and present your other cheek with a big fat red spot of a manager on it" ..
English_George
That's a bit harsh don't you think? After all when that whistle blows it's down to those on the pitch, Or don't they get paid enough? I mean, if your boiler soots up are you going to blame the person who put it together in the factory or the £50 per hr. professional who serviced it? .....obviously your understanding of boilers is far superior to your understanding of football..... ...
zeusbheld
So when England win 3-1 who should get the credit? the guy who put them in a crisis situation in the first place? or maybe the somewhat overrated players who did it? IMO mclaren has succeeded mightily in making sven look not only like an excellent manager, but downright handsome. one thing's for sure: mclaren can manage the all-ugly team, and shrek will be his first signing. English_George
So when England win 3-1 who should get the credit? ...I'm talking about 'before' the whistle blows Zorro..... ...It's not just a case of throwing the cards on the table and getting a straight flush.. ...Ok...where do I start?? ..Let's start from the beginning........when Steve still had enough hair to not make it seem his comb over was ridiculous... 1.) he was Sven's right hand man...learned alot from him...England sack Sven and appointed Steve, who unless he had cotton wool in his ears in his assistant years........was pretty much tarred with the same brush. 2.) Steve's cosmetic "flambouyant" image needed to be increased..so he hired Max "Kiss and Tell, make people's life hell" Clifford onto his team of "new wave" thinkers.....(only to be bested by 'Sir' Clive OneWorld and his appointment of Alistair Cambell on a Lion's rubgy tour.) 3.) Dropping Beckham 4.) Dropping Beckham 5.) Dropping Beckham to 'try' and give his new found power a sense of..er..power. 6.) Leaving the 'in form' Aaron Lennon on the bench whilst his 'Boro' back room boy Downing was selected for the qualities he has at international level....no pace and fleeting skill. 7.) Playing Gerrard on the flank..........an obvious choice that even my mother questioned. Anyone wants to argue that Lampard deserves the central role...please PM me and we can discuss it in one word..."NO" 8.) Playing 3-5-2 formations "without' wingers...is...er...like...fighting Lennox Lewis with your hands tied behind your back....and Alistair Cambell in your corner........oh...sorry..there were two wingers...Cole and Neville....thoroughbred wingers........Neville probably being the most qualified winger in football history....next to Alistair Cambell and rugby. 9.) Calling Beckham back .....after obviously making a mistake made him the laughing stock of international football....but that has to be by far the best choice he has made... 10.) Pretending that he didn't know who Gareth Barry was....? Maybe because Martin O'Neil should have had the job he's got!! ....I have to stop at 10 because my hands are shaking :) ..

GoldMember
Its a feeling of sheer relief.England under Maclaren has felt like a patient with a terminal illness. All they have to do now is get rid of those old farts running the FA.Not much chance of that though as they are unlikely to sack themselves. Its a nice little earner. Guest stevedsmnd
Happy to see McClaren go but he should never have been made manager in the first place..can't really blame him. I blame those old farts in the F.A. Which boring, middle of the road, non achiever will they pick next? The last time England were even vaguely exciting was the Euro Championships in England (96 I think) with Venables in charge. I would like to see Mouriniho (can't spell his name) in charge, at least he would upset a few people and get the players fired up..no more lethargic performances

I blame those old farts in the F.A. the FA are responsible, and the millionaire footballers are responsible, but really mclaren DID botch it repeatedly. i think it's safe to blame him. i am watching the replay as i type this and some of his lineup choices are astonishing. carson? why?? his one good save hit him in the face apparently by accident; his positioning was consistently awful. the comeback was all becks, yet mclaren had him riding pine to start the match. and this has been going on for a while, remember 532/352, whichever wingless midfield it was? it was awful. i realize these guys don't play and train together but tactically they're a mess. there doesn't appear to be any pllan whatsoever. (great finish from crouc hinho though btw). Which boring, middle of the road, non achiever will they pick next? i'm left wondering why they approached mclaren rather than martin o'neil in the first place. I would like to see Mouriniho (can't spell his name) in charge, at least he would upset a few people and get the players fired up..no more lethargic performances agree, maybe what they need now is some special sauce cooked up by the special one (who i hear, is unemployed at the moment). Fair point Zeus...I've just read that the 'special one' is not interested, neither is Big Sam, Martin'O Neil or Steve Coppel. I would love to see an Englishman as the manager but can't think of anyone suitable..Stuart Pearce has the passion but not really the experience and he's not really a tactician. They reckon Harry Redknapp maybe interested and as much as I like him, from his West Ham days, he will just be another McClaren. It needs a big, big name from the game, who the spoilt millionaire players will respect and fear, who will not toe-the-line with the F.A and who won't bow to media pressure. Katoom
i'm left wondering why they approached mclaren rather than martin o'neil in the first place. They did but his Power Point presentation was non existant apparently, whereas Mclaren's was all bells and whistles; impressive... agree, maybe what they need now is some special sauce cooked up by the special one (who i hear, is unemployed at the moment). NOW HEAR THIS; GLEN HODDLE This is what Paul Ince had to say to Radio 5 Live "I wouldn't look any further than Hoddle. He did a very good job and he wasn't sacked for footballing reasons. "The FA has got to forget about what happened years ago, they've got to be bold and brave. "Hoddle is sharp, bright, meticulous and he's English, but whether the FA is prepared to go back is not my decision." I quite agree, Hoddle was the best manager we have had in recent time, by a long margin in my opinion. Whatever you have to say about him and his quirky ways, I think we should get him back, fast. Katoom
actually Hoddle's win rate working out around 48% and Sven's at 59% over a longer period of time proves you're opinion wrong. Hoddle in my opinion has always inherited decent teams and made them sh*t <-- professional punditry term|Swindon, Spuds, Chelsea and England. Stats don't actually show that on the day, Hoddle was far more able to interpret the game on his feet than Sven could. Sven was frozen at times of crisis on the bench whereas Hoddle provided instant direction and had a clear vision of what tactical changes he needed to impliment. This trait and connected characterisations from the Sven era have been carried over with McLaren and additionally in that he is unable to deal with the really tough desicions i.e. the Lampard/Gerrard debacle. I am certain Hoddle would easily deal with these issues. And by the way, opinions cannot be wrong my friend. Thanks
