I spoke to the manager of Sports Academy yesterday about what happened there and he told me the following....

The owners of The Players were looking for a new premises and went to the owner of Seafood Palace. He gave them a 3 year lease. They spent a lot of money setting the place up (I really loved it there).

Then one day the owner of the building showed up to collect unpaid rent from Seafood Palace and was surprised to see a new bar in his building. Apparently the owner from Seafood Palace was just a tenant, made up a bullshit lease agreement and took eight month's rent from Sports Academy - which he then pocketed and did a runner with 8 million baht... cnut.

The NEW Sports Academy will be opening next Friday (allegedly) in the building over Thermae. There will only be space for 8 tables (formerly 10) and it won't be as luxurious as the old place.

.... this story is true to the best of my knowledge. After Sports Academy 2 opens, maybe we'll get more information from the owners. I'll be going there to play - love the tables. Ball in Hand is a bit stale now and I think they're still using the old Sovereign tables.

I'd say it will take 2-3 weeks to open and there should be space for 7 tables.

I like Metro...

If you wanna play poo for a while you can, good tables, and BIH owners/members too... sometimes you wanna sit at the bar and chew the fat.. I find the people in there are always nice to do that with.

Girls are a little flirty, but not too much, and one or two of them play pool reasonably well, so you can always do that rather than knock'em down on your own if you are waiting for friends.

The Sukhumvit 8 and 9 ball season is starting in a few weeks. There are about 60 teams spread out through Bangkok, and you play half of your matches at your home bar, and the other half at different bars throughout the city (mostly on Sukhumvit). The players range from really crappy to a few pros, and it is some good and friendly competition.

I know of a couple of teams that are looking for another player or two. Is anyone interested in joining? 8 ball meets on Monday evenings, and 9 ball on Wednesday evenings. It's a great way to see new bars and meet new people.

If interested, send me a PM.

Rob.

Last night we played at The Dali Coyote bar. The scantily clad girls were not enough to throw my team off our game as we won 6-2. Fun night.

Anyone else on TF play in the Bangkok league?

I'll dust off the old sequined g-string and bra.

Let's see how well you can hold your attention then mate.

Can you post that as an TF event then?

I am confident it would also attract a large number of female TF members armed with numerous cameras & eager to subsequently share pics with friends and colleagues.

I'll refrain from making the typical stick and balls pool joke here.
