They All Suck, not a good one in the bunch....

true but some suck more than others. sadly, John McCain used to be one of the ones who sucked slightly less, now thanks to his unscrupulous (even by the standards of politics) campaign he's become one of the worst.

not saying that Obama is Mr. Honesty either--just that the lies coming out of the McCain camp are outrageous even for politicians. if these assholes win then america deserves to go down the toilet. no wait, that already happened thanks to Dubya winning twice. politicians may be bad, but voters are dirt-stupid and deserve the prison-rape they're getting. keep up the work, idiots.

I'd like to see the long list of 'experience' she has, then again I don't give a f*ck and would like to see the US go down the pan.

I hope that anger and hatred eats you and causes much pain.

I hope some crap clueless tart becomes your vice president, then goes onto be your first lady president, and proper fucks the USA right up the shitter.

Its not hate, I just want to make lots of money out of you misery, this weeks been great for my gold pot.

USA, 10.6 TRILLION in debt, go on, add another half a Trillion to that, and see it melt away.

No hate, just happiness.

I remember early on in life that I was told "avoid getting into discussions about politics or religion because it usually ends up as an argument"

To the guys out there from the USA; how long - and since when did it really start - has religion become an influential factor in politics? To what degree is the USA a christian fundamentalist nation?

If you look back at the old black and white footage of past presidents, such as FDR, god hardly rates a mention. Who started the trend of "God Bless America" at the end of a presidential speech?

Why is it that Presidential candidates feel compelled to butter up to religious lobby's/voting blocks? Can they really play that big a part in the result of an election?

In my opinion religion and politiics should never mix because the reality is that religion, in any shape or form, is an ignorant, archaic form of superstition that

only serves to create fear and mistrust throughout the world.

Some time ago I read a book about a guy called Adam Smith. For those who don't know, Adam Smith, was an Englishman who drew the worlds first geological map: around 1825, as far as I remember. Anyway, this fellow was originally a surveyor and was employed on canal building and tunneling projects, by various companies, for twenty years or so. While he was digging down through the earths layers he began to notice the stratification and, also, layers of sediment and fossilised creatures. It soon became apparent to him that the world was far older than the strict interpretation that the religious powers of the day would have him believe. The problem for him was that he couldn't openly voice his opinions on what he'd found because those so called religious powers, of the day, still held sizable influence on the political processes in the country. I'm know I'm digressing here but I'm getting to the point. At regular intervals, the author of this book, would slot in foot notes that he believed were relevant to the subject matter. On the bottom of page 15 was a footnote that ran something like this:

In 1991 a survey, conducted in the USA, showed that something like 25% of the population believed that the planet was only 6000 years old.

That, to put it bluntly, is scary ****. Sarah Palin is one scary human being.

This is not a bash the USA post. I have a lot of American friends living here in Thailand. Most of them, I believe, will probably vote in favour of the democrats.

it's always been influential, but as far as i know the idea of mobilizing a far right base by pandering to the hardcore evangelicals started with Bush.

25 percent of the US population are evangelicals.

that would be the same 25 percent.

fwiw it's NOT a coincidence that God is not mentioned in the constitution.

fwiw #2 one consistent attack on Thomas Jefferson when he was on the campaign trail was that he was an atheist.

haha!

I watched the interview before, I mean real Palin and Katie Couric's. That was really bad.

and, I watched the vice presidential debate today.

I thought she was pretty awful, but not as bad as most people feared.

Actually, I was expecting she makes something (bad) slip of her tongue. Unfortunately, nothing happened.

Her answers are so bad. she is basically just blabbing phrases and keywords that are related to the subject...

also several times she completely ignored the question and was just rambling..

From what I watched, by sticking to simple & stupid, Palin avoided the worst. Luckily for her, Biden is not exactly Mr. Charisma. All through the debate, he kept stumbling on the simplest words and getting confused with his own answers. 40 minutes is as much as I was able to take this sad excuse for a debate.

I thought Biden did a good job and am not worried about a few difficult moments iin his speaking. Palin also did well but I found her phoney and yes doggone a real republican pig. Unfortunately with the computer voting machines in place and the republican machine in place to disenfranchise democratic votes by any means possible I don't have strong hopes for Obama- Biden, just hope they win

Yes, Biden was very good, except very long winded. :P

Palin....yeah, she learned enough to convince the idiotic people who supported her in the first place.

I could barely keep the volume up... I cried for America.. I cried for the world too...almost as sadly as I cried on 11 September 2001..

Pathetic sad weird losers, the whole lot of them!!

God I wish there were a god to clean up this mess.

plenty of Gods, and Godesses, but that ***** Palin got protection against witchcraft and paganism by that mad African pastor...

however, we are working on a potion to bypass that protection...

i ask one of my American friends about what he think about this going debates , and he replied like ....they can say anything ... no matter what happens with our economy it won't effect them . Just like it won't effect the families of any top level politician. They all have sooo much money that losing a lot won't even phase them. Maybe they won't be able to get a new car every year, but they will still be eating well and buying the best hookers in town...

I know I'm stupid but I don't really understand how's the US election procedure.

Only a question from me is when we will get to know who is the next President of the States? I have been hearing the news about election for months and I'm so sick of it.. it takes ages!!!!! The news started since before the 2 parties got the candidate and it even before I quit a job I think (my last day at work was 290508).

I just hate to admit that we have to give a **** with who will be the next President of the US even though I'm a Non-US citizen

voting finishes end of day november 4 (tomorrow).

the US is about 12 hours behind Thailand, and when exactly we know depends on how close it is and how long it takes to count the votes, but most likely we'll know by november 5 morning, which would be november 5 evening for us.

I have a feeling there may be some contesting of counts etc as there has been quite a bit of it in the news of late. it will be interesting to say the least.

that will only matter if it's close. it will be close if McCain flips PA AND wins in VA. if he loses either, it's pretty much over. the electoral map is not his friend this year.

there was a LOT more shrill shrieking about voter suppression vs voter fraud in 2004 and it was all over rather quickly.
