PosH
Is it real? I over heard someone on my lunch break today about how she got her dream man in her life and they are about to get engage ... She was telling her friend the site and the contact information. I was so close to tell them that it's all nonsense ... So I bought it up at the office today and amazingly 3 out of 10 staffs actually believe in Black Magic ... I've seen a few Thai and Hollywood scary movies about Black Magic before ... Never curious about it since I thought it was all bullcrapalinie ... One girl even told me a story plus pulled out a website that show how Jolie got some sort of a few Black magic tattoos from Thailand so that she could have Brad with her ... ( forgive her she is 16 working as an operator ) Now what do you think? Is it real? Does it really work? Where can I get one? In case I want to marry Prince William ... funky_house
There is no such thing as "Black Magic". Well, apart from those dark chocolates that they always seem to advertise at Christmas.

iam_sweethoney
I have many cousins and I can say that 90% of them believe in the black magic. My cousin-in-law even has the story about my cousin that he was under the black magic before.. however, he has never admitted it... I have never experienced the black magic thing by myself, I dont know if it does exit, yet, I'm not saying that it doesnt exit... I think it's up to the individual belief... xoxo B. PosH
That's suck! Now I have to go hunt those 2 ladies down and get that website and the contact info. And Lizardo ... You never know So no one here believe in Black Magic at all? I google a few and read a few testimonials from those sites... If it's real ... It's amazing how people would depend on such a thing ... Like love spell or some sort of spell to break a couple or even money spell... I'd rather go tell the person that I'd love to shag them than pay some money to some crazy site and wishing that one day I will get to shag that person. Or just go tell a couple to break up instead of wasting money and wait around hoping that one day they will break up... The money spell is totally silly ... I guess I'm gonna google some more... SInce I can't sleep and now I kinda really want to marry Prince William ..

My mother's friend in Thailand truely believe in " Mor doo" ( Fortune teller ). I'm always curious about those thing that I actually studied some of Chinese Astrology and a few of Thai Astrology myself. Some make sense most doesn't. But about my mother friend... She would come up with many stories about this Mor doo who made her husband came back to her from the mistress. Or gave her luck ... Or made her daughter's rich boyfriend married her and a few more stuff... I mostly just smile and tole her that I'd love to marry Patrick Dempsey. Obviously she has no idea who he is but she is very sure that her Mor doo will be able to make my dream come true ... Guess I will give it a try on my next trip to Thailand. If my mother would allow me as she said I shouldn't look down on this thing even she doesn't believe in such a thing at all.

sunsnow
Sad thing is that Thai monks are propagating and keeping this belief alive among modern Thais by selling and participating in these anti-black magic acts and this way profiting from this animalistic belif that is in no way part of Lord Buddhas teachings.
Loburt
Even sadder that people at the highest levels of government - even those who used to own telecomms empires and satellites - also make decisions based on astrology and black magic rituals. Actually there is no any magic/miracle in Buddhist way... but something like that does exist just not written in Tripitaka coz the Buddha never want us to believe in this such thing even though its exist. If u study about the Buddha (Siddhartha), many miracles happened before and after he became enlighten. But again, we never know if those stories are real... difficult to understand whats real and whats just promotion/marketing nowadays.
Stramash
Even sadder that people at the highest levels of government - even those who used to own telecomms empires and satellites - also make decisions based on astrology and black magic rituals. would love to see some evidence of this Lo. Ok, black magic?? Anyone care to define for me?? Cos it seems most of you are talking about love potions and luck and such things... That AINT black magic. That's white magic. The term black magic is most commonly used by a faith or religion to describe something that does not sit within the tenets of their belief system or belongs to a system that predates their belief system. Now I dont know much about the situation in Th and how the Buddhist monks approach it, but certainly most Christian groups wrongly identify any sort of magic/herbology that appears to go against their teachings as black magic In Europe most of the witches that were burnt at stake were nothing more than women who practiced the old religions, and who had an encyclopaedic knowledge of plants and herbs which could cure or alleviate many illnesses. Because their religion was maternalistic in nature and because Christianity was paternalistic, these women were persecuted, tortured and then killed. Everyone knows a witch has a broomstick...but not everyone knows the truth behind the broomstick story. At certain times of the year, rituals would be held to encourage the growth of crops. The wise woman/en of the vilage/area would perform these rituals. The broomstick (as rigid pole!) represented strong healthy crops. The women would use an ointment (containing such ingredients as aconite, belladonna, henbane etc which would produce effects similar to LSD) To represent the fertilisation of the crops, the women smeared the hallucinogenic ointment on the end of the broomstick and then inserted...well you can guess where it was inserted. They would then jump over the new crops in the field (Flying on broomsticks) and, coupled with the effects of the ointment and sexual ecstasy, many described flying over the fields. What is quite amusing now is that a lot of these witchcraft based cures and remedies have now been rediscovered and can be bought in any respectable health food shop or chemists!!! Can you blame them when they have been brought up in this sort of religious environment where even the highest of all in royal houses and Thai buddhist leves practise religious ways that mix with Budhism and Hinduism and black magic and who knows what magic...So media tycoons making decisions based on these things, no wonder to me. Sad, but no wonder. And no wonder that you see university students at palm reader corners when the monks are there to teach that these things are something to be afraid of or listen to. And no wonder Thailands economy has been what it is since the crash of 1997... <add hint of sarcasm, no I do not think that tycoons making some decisons or atleast using as part of decision making trees these methods lead to situation where Thai economy did not really rise from the ashes compared to couple other countries in the region.) From the Daily Telegraph, 17 June 2008 Thaksin Shinawatra, the owner of Manchester City football club, has said that the "headache" faced by the six-month-old government will pass once Mars leaves Saturn alone. Mr Thaksin was deposed in a military coup in 2006 following street protests. However, his supporters won elections last Christmas ? prompting further demonstrations by opponents and threatening a similar outcome. "Be patient with the headache-inducing situation until July 2," Mr Thaksin said today. "Mars moving close to Saturn causes the headache. When Mars leaves, the situation will ease." Mr Thaksin has long placed his faith in astrology. When Bangkok's new airport opened he had the first plane land at 9.19am, which he believed was an auspicious moment. For a while as prime minister he cancelled his weekly press conferences, claiming that Mercury was not in a favourable alignment. end of quoted article I believe if you search you will also find stories of him making trips to 99 northeastern temples or something like that, as part of a ritual to neutralize his opponents. sunsnow
Babyoiy: thats waht I mean, as you are grown up in Buddhist religion, you say that Buddha did not want ppl to believe in these things...so why then are Thai monks promoting these modern day miracles, good and bad ones and magic what ever color. Thats what I find sad. Ok, the background behind my reasoning is that I think Buddhist teachings at their core and purest form are good, as is Islam and Christianity, but then these things seeped in and "tainted" them. In many way extreme islamists, witch hunts by catholics or thai monks promoting belief in goddesess and gods that were unknown to Lord Buddha. Anyhow...my two cents. Black magic or dark magic is a form of sorcery that draws on malevolent powers. It may be used for dark purposes or malevolent acts that deliberately cause harm in some way. It is alternatively spelt with a 'k' (magick). This term is also known as the dark arts of magic and dark side magic. Sorry Lo, didnt make myself clear (my bad) dont doubt the astrology angle - many world leaders have turned to that - was more still the whole black magic thing (see definition above)
sunsnow
Loburt: you blaming them for using black magic in and around Chiang Mai why? Isn't that type of non-traditional business logic and behavior something that you would expect, I would like to add unfortunatly as I do not think that black magic can beat a good old fashioned business case studies , to see if you have grown up in country where tonight people are celebrating Loy Krathong, goddess of water, that has nothing to do with Buddhism and believing in all sorts of spirits and miracles. eagle
Some native tribes in the US use magic. People steal others hair to use in rituals to sometimes harm others. WHen I hear about it its usually followed by a warning that when you use it you risk harm to yourself as karma is still in effect and what you put out can come back. Real or not its part of their culture. There are alot of tales of the US government elite getting together in cult rituals like in the movie the Believers with Martin Sheen. Real or not I don't know but I do know what Bush and his heartless criminal friends did to innocent people in Irag.
