  1. 1. How long can a virtual relationship last?

    • I would never get into a relationship with someone that I've never met
    • 1 month
    • 3 months
    • 6 months
    • Over a year... let's have a virtual baby!!!!

You meet the girl/guy of your dream on TF. You really feel a strong connection and start (virtually) dating. But money, time and a bunch of other reasons make it impossible for you and your sweetheart to meet in the near future.

How long can this virtual romance last???? (ie. how long can you be in a relationship with somebody without ever having met your loved one in person?)

Don't tell me it's impossible. In my relatively short time on TF, I've seen people get engaged with virtual partners (haven't seen a virtual wedding yet... :P )

90% of the time, its 2 dysfuctional people caught up in a self made silly fantasy and kidding themselves. 90% are just wasting their lives. And, of course, those who are currentljy IN one will say..."oh, but mine is that rare 10% that works". Bollocks. Dream on.

Oh come on man... Do you really think it's as HIGH as 10%? Now who's the optimist?

The interesting thing is that the people who answered the survey question seem to be of a different (more positive) opinion then those who commented. 70% would give a virtual relationship between 3 to 6 months of life. 3 to 6 months is a long time. Longer than a lot of "real relationship" between two young people in our fast paced world these days...

I totally agree with you Mazzy !

In my case, I met my owner online, we chatted for several months before it became very serious. Now... I would not want a single day without her beside me.

Sometimes things just work out better when it starts with honesty and a slow pace. (WEB cam helps too. :D )

...but...but virtual doesn't mean real...

...if you're chatting via email and webcam then that's pretty real..

....the only probem is that people can never really say that they know someone until they have met them face to face....so....that makes it a virtual relationship...

...but then if that is the case and you are defining your relationship by "what you know of the person" ....then that is real, because that is how we define our relationships with people...by what we know of them

How many times have you heard people say: "Oh i never knew they were like that?"

...that's because you can never really know someone other than yourself...

...so every relationship is virtual?

..I'm confused

You are on to something here "George".

The first days, weeks, even months; We are all stage players, until we find that our inner personalities are either compatible or not.

When someone says their partner "changed", it really and simply means they started being their real selves. They don't really change after you meet them, you just see the non- virtual person for what they are, good or not.

Does anyone like Blue?

Think of it as almost a relationship mate.

That way, when your bird asks if you've had virtual sex, you can say "Almost", and still tell the truth

virtual sex

...What the TF is virtual sex?

...You get your pants half way down?

...You hide under the covers and 'sandpaper' each other?

.........or is it just denial, where you tell yourself that it didn't happen when it did?

the list is endless:

"We're virtaully married" = we both have a wedding ring as our screen saver

"I'm virtually finished" = In my mind all my work is done, in reality I'm telling you to leave me alone and stop asking.

"My adultery was virtually undetectable" = I deleted my 'history' in Internet options
