Normally, how we cook the instant noodles is to put the noodles into a

normally with MSG, it will change the molecular structures of the

@Dr Mike - the problem is, that our taste buds get used to this excessive and artifical taste. Hence our nerves will tell us that natural taste doesnt taste at all..

As well with the chili peppers, (capsasin).

Also, too much hoi and everything ends up smelling like fish.

Darn !! didnt have time to eat lunch so I just ran across the street to get cup noodle !!! now I'm more than freaked out

and what do I do with cup noodle ???????????????????????????????

Maybe street noodles is better. What's the good doctor think about that? (I'm sure they're loaded with msg :wink: )

The only reason I come to Thailand is cause they don't use MSG....Am I kidding myself?.....never eat instant noodles in Thailand.....that's not Thai Culture.....

But it is becoming part of Thai culture, with over 5,000million baht revenue and increasing every year.

and you can't really avoid MSG consumption in Thailand if you don't cook your own foods :roll:

This is true. You can't avoid eating MSG anywhere. The primary ingredient in MSG is glutamate or glutamic acid one of the essential amino acids that make up dietary protein.

It's produced naturally by the body and most humans in developed countries consume about 10 grams of it naturally from food daily - oysters, tomatoes, broccoli and mushrooms are all high in free glutamate as opposed to bound glutamate - (glutamate that's bound to other amino acids that form a protein molecule) and heaps of packet and processed foods contain it but might be labelled as 'yeast extract' or 'hydrolysed vegetable protein'.

The debate on it's health risks/benefits and usefulness rages on but I think there is more risk to health from eating too much refined carbs (sugars) white rice, bread etc, fat, salt and, well, smoking and drinking! (MSG contains less sodium than salt so may be a better flavouring)
