Crustyjuggler
I'm glad import tax is extortionate here otherwise i would consume ridiculously more amounts of vintage cheddar than i currently do, thus resulting into a fatty with 'double D' moobs. SweetieBabie
While regular foreign books are relatively the same price to the west, Why are foreign magazines so expensive here? It just don't make any sense to me.... for example, if you live in the US, and subscribes them, the price of the mags are real cheap as a dollar or 2 per issue. while in Thailand you are paying like 12-17$. I think im paying 100-200% extra for nothing.

I think im paying 100-200% extra for nothing. If you live in US you will pay for ex-work price. But you are in Thailand and you want to buy US mags, you have to pay for :- - In-land transportation cost ( from printing factory to seaport/airport), - Export charge (at overseas port) - Shipping Cost (for shipment from US to Thailand) - Import charge (for importer) - Administration fee for people who in-charge of those proceduers above and - Delivery fee to your place See ?you didnt pay extra for nothing. SweetieBabie
See ?you didnt pay extra for nothing. Yes mama i understand all those add-up costs, but why the same rules are not apply to regular books as fictions or novels? I've noticed the price of mags had gone up a bit since last year too while these recreational reading books price remains true to the cover price. it's so unfair for second/third world has to pay twice and triple for same piece of information. Crustyjuggler
Others have mentioned it.. The wine!! a 4quid bottle of french shite sets you back about B1000, at least! However, it does give me a giggle when i watch wannabes drinking it in Paragon, pretending to be all snazzy when in reality it's about b200 per BOTTLE in a French supermarket!! Still, if it makes them feel important.....

I think they still have all those listed expenses above for fictions or novels but prices are varies according to quantities, manufacturer connection/conditions/negotiation, types of books and/or tax catagories etc.

condotown
Vitamin supplements insane..... I was even shaken down for 1000 baht briibe/extortion fee this year at customs for bringing in the "medicine" when I brought in my annual supply from USA. First time in 20 years I ever had a bag opened for inspection when entering Thailand. On the other hand, bribes in Thailand are usually quite affordable.
