One Scared Japanese Guy

Recommended Posts

Very happy for this poor kid but wondering what dad will say and if he will come through for his son?

Get ready for photos of Keigo;

1) Arrival at Japanese embassy,

2) Waits by phone waiting for call,

3) Talks to father and crys,

4) Is comforted by relative after call ends,

5) Attends Japanese restaurant in Asoke courtesy of the Japanese Embassy and stuffs his face full of sushi

Keigo Sato wave goodbye to his friends in Phichit province on Thursday before travelling to Bangkok. Japanese Embassy will arrange a phone talk with his long lost father; Katzumi, who is in Japan, on Friday.

Haha A free bus ride to BKK with Japanese beer logo sponsor on the side. Nice Touch :thumbleft:

It's never about the money, isn't it?

Ugh...really disgusting time to work in some ad placement there. But hey, why not throw some more dirt on the story while we're at it?!

woohoo!

Seems appropriate. Probably a few Asahi beers in the events leading to his birth.

Thai teen hunts for dad Nation 21/05/09

A second youngster searches for her Japanese fatherA hearing impaired Thai teenager and her mother yesterday sought help from the media to locate her Japanese father, who lost touch with the family when she was three years old. Sangwan Bamrung, a 44yearold resident of Sansai district, brought her voca¬tionalstudent daughter Narumi Hamada, 18, to the Thai News Office in Chiang Mai yesterday morning to ask for help in locating Ryuiji Hamada, 45.

Sangwan said she wanted nothing from the Japanese man and affirmed that it would be okay if Hamada had remarried. She simply wants her daughter to meet the father she keeps asking about. She admitted that the recent news of Phichit boy Keigo Sato's success in find¬ing his Japanese father had encouraged her own renewed efforts to find Hamada.

You know, if there's one thing that bugs me about Thais (sigh... in general)... it's the lack of originality.

If one person has a good idea, it's immediately copied by others.

Remember the Rotiboy craze? Suddenly there were dozens of Boy Roti, Roti Man, RotiRoti shops everywhere.

And the woman who smashed up her car at the dealership in protest at poor service. The following year, it was NORMAL to smash up your car if you weren't happy with the service.

And cutting off penises - cuckolded wives are leaping for the knife before heading down to the marriage guidance counsellor.

If a bar or restaurant does well, you can guarantee there'll be another two or three pale imitations within a year.

what is the male population of japan? I bet you would find a needle in a haystack easier than to locate this guy. statisticaly this guy doesn't have

anything to worry about. not using protection seems to give a slight indication that they were kinda closely involved or seen each other more than once maybe not but very interesting.

10 years ago wasn't all the immigration done by paper and not too much computers involved? How much paper trail would you have to go through? maybe if it was within 5 years or so when they have recently started to take picures of everything and everyone entering the country would give you better odds.

not impossible but too costly and too time consuming. even if they found this

dude it would be very hard to extradite him buy the time they did the kid would be 19 or 20 past child support age. I will give you an example norman polanski very high profile hasnt been back to the usa since his incident. this is very low profile it probably would be very hard to get this guy extradited for such a minor issue. Poor kid I really do feel sorry for him all this isn't his fault.

I want to ask everyone a question. what if these shoes were on your feet. dna test was taken and you had a kid in BKK would you go and see him. aquaint yourself with him and send him child support?

That's true. But since most of them are here on tourist visas I tend to think of them as long term sex tourists. 8)

Errr welcome to the thread.... they found the guy a week ago.

The male population of Japan is pretty big. But they narrowed the search by only looking for guys with the same name and date of birth....

Amazing!

Oh and a few small points...

the couple were married - not 'closely involved'.

they don't extradict people for knocking up bar girls.

it's Roman Polanski, not Norman.

and he was found guilty of sodomising an under-aged girl.

More serious than stealing a bar mat and/or abandoning your child.

(I know, I know... mutual love and respect for TF members, but I'm teasing)

Now 2 more show up seeking assistance in finding their Japanese father. One is a teenage girl, I think 18yo from ChaingMai. And the other one is a boy in the same age as the first one, around 10yo.

I haven't seen my Dad since Christmas. I wonder if I can get a free ticket for him to visit Thailand.

Not sure if u have read carefully that they were married legally so the tracking thing started from there. The boy is using his father family name.

After the dad and the son spoke on phone yesterday, now we knew that the dad kept a pic of a mom with his boy when he was two months old with him since he went apart till now. But I didn't follow the whole story of how that the conversation really went.

Seems that little Keigo had a few Asahi beers (aka car sickness) on the trip down yesterday? :shock: Wonderful that he could finally speak with his (squirming?) dad and he looks so happy after the call;

30103431-01.jpg

It was a happy but exhausting day for nine-year-old Keigo Zato who had a 50-minute telephone conversation with his Japanese father at the Japanese embassy in Bangkok yesterday.

"Sawasdee krab were the first words I said to my dad," Keigo told a press conference after the long-awaited conversation around 4pm.Suffering from car sickness, the boy appeared drowsy. His eyes were red and he barely talked to the media.

The venue was switched from the embassy to the Riverside Hotel at the request of the Phichit Association, which is taking care of the boy during his two-day stay in Bangkok.

According to the Nation the 10 yr old is stateless so let's hope he at least gets a national status somewhere out of this search;

30103421-01.jpg

Yamato Niimura, 10, of Chaing Mai, becomes the third child coming out to ask media to help locate his Japanese father, Masato, on Friday. He was born to a Shan mother, making him stateless child.

After all the public attention surrounding Keigo Zato, his aunt is worried the boy will forget his roots.

Pattama Chatuphit, who raises him at home in Phichit, said she never thought Keigo's story would attract so much attention.

"I'm worried about him. I tell him not to forget who he really is," she said.

Many companies have shown interest in asking him to present their products including shoes, clothes and desserts, according to Sithipoj Keibui, a stringer for daily newspapers including the Bangkok Post, who was assigned by Phichit governor Somchai Hatayatanti to take care of the boy on a visit last week to Bangkok. The boy has also received cash help of more than 200,000 baht from people who read his story.

The province has asked the Lawyers Council of Thailand in Phichit to oversee Keigo's financial welfare.

Mr Somchai has also found a teacher to teach him to speak Japanese.

The latest offer unveiled yesterday comes from a cartoon book publisher who was inspired by Keigo's quest to find his father and would like to depict the boy's story.

Mr Sithipoj said an agent of a cartoon book company suggested the project while Keigo was talking with his father at the Japanese embassy on Friday.

Keigo said after leaving Bangkok that his life would remain unchanged, despite the attention.

"I will carry on the same when I return home - study and be good," he said.

In Phichit, he helps support his family by selling fish feed at Wat Tha Luang in Muang district.

Before he left, Keigo dropped in to Pathum Thani, where he enjoyed rides at the Dream World amusement park.

At home, Keigo paid respect to the picture and ashes of his mother Thipmontha, and told her:

"Mum, I've met my father. He promised to come to Phichit and make merit for you. You don't have to worry about me any more."

The nine-year-old Keigo began searching for his father after his mother died of a sexually transmitted disease last year.

She would tell the boy to wait for his father at a temple where they had promised to get married.

When foreign tourists visited the temple in Phichit's Muang district, Keigo would approach them and ask whether they recognised the man in a photo he carried. Eventually, his efforts came to the media's attention.

It must be a lousy time for journalists in Thailand (cucumber time we'd call it here) when they have to put this story (and that one of the bar mat-woman) on the front-page. Normally it's just worth a few lines and not even on the front-page. Or am I not familiar enough with the Thai culture? Or is The Bangkok Post kind of a tabloid paper?
