Hint: the camera-ready quarter pounder takes hours to construct with a team of Toronto-based experts armed with a syringe, a heat gun and Photoshop, of course. In an unusual step, a McDonald's flack in Toronto posted a YouTube video to try to explain why their burgers look so much better on TV. The video has gone viral with nearly 1.6 million hits. In the clip, Hope Bagozzi, director of marketing for McDonald's Canada, orders a quarter pounder with cheese in store and compares it to a food stylist-crafted burger. In store, Bagozzi said, the burgers take about a minute to slap together, while it takes a food stylist several hours to meticulously craft the camera-ready sandwich. The expert in the video carefully puts the pickles and onions toward the outer edge of the burger and uses a syringe to squirt the condiments on it. He also uses a heat gun to delicately melt the cheese. The image is then Photoshopped to fix any blemishes on the bun, correct any out-of-place sesame seeds or toppings and boost the colour. As for the size discrepancies between the tiny in-store burger and large expert-made sandwich, Bagozzi claims the heat trapped in the cardboard box after preparation causes the bun to shrink. Later, the money was allegedly transferred "dishonestly'' to an account held by Thaksin's son Panthongtae. The OAG has filed malfeasance charges against Thaksin and 26 others, saying the accused acted to support dishonest loan extensions of KTB to help rehabilitate Krisdamahanakorn, and that such acts were fraudulent. Mr Chulasingh said the charges were filed with the Supreme Court's Criminal Division for Holders of Political Positions and the agencies could not charge Panthongtae because he was not a government official. However, public prosecutors could file a separate lawsuit against him with the Criminal Court. Ms Mallika said she was discussing with the party’s legal team whether to directly file a petition demanding further investigation of Mr Panthongtae’s alleged role in the case with the Department of Special Investigation, or The Royal Thai Police Office. Now this story isn't surprising to me at all. There's no WTF moment... Why should there be? Thaksin and his family have been involved in so many dodgy schemes it's ridiculous they are still walking free, never mind respected. What's amazing to me are the comments written by the Pro Red commentators underneath. Not one of them has bothered thinking of a credible excuse for 9.9 billion baht being deposited into the bank account of the PM's son. Prosecutor Cynthia Guillory asked Judge Clayton Davis to impose the maximum sentence possible, citing him as the “sickest of the sick.” After reading countless articles about Luca Magnotta, I’m not sure I completely agree with Guillory, but I’m definitely willing to give Bergeron a Pedophile Medal of Honor and perhaps some sort of Lifetime Achievement Award for his noteworthy career in criminal deviancy, a career that started as far back as his first arrest in 1975. Bergeron’s M.O., it seems, would be to invite young boys to his home, intoxicate them with alcohol and/or drugs until they’d passed out, and then perform oral sex on them. “He said he told them that he was an old man and needed testosterone … needed their semen to live, basically,” Guillory said. “Now that’s sick.” Bergeron certainly didn’t make it easy on himself, as I can’t imagine extracting semen from the penis of a heavily-drugged individual would be the easiest way to go, no matter what the age of the victim. However, the fact that his targets were unconscious is probably the reason for the length of his career; well, that and the fact that he just kept being put back out into society. As I’ve mentioned, his first arrest was logged back in 1975. By 2008, he had racked up 15 more arrests related to his hobby. Also in 2008, he was charged with a total of 50 counts of sex crimes against children. His bond was set at $9.5 million at that time. His victims ranged in age from young children to teenagers and actually included some girls. If semen is truly what you’re after, Mr. Bergeron, I think you may be in desperate need of some additional human anatomy education. Now, you’d think that being arrested and having a judge saddle you with a $9.5 million bond would mean you probably weren’t getting out of jail anytime soon. However, for reasons of which I am woefully ignorant, Bergeron was able to get arrested again in 2011 for failing to register as a sex offender, a conviction that led to the 10-year sentence he is currently serving. At his most recent sentencing, which earned him 120 years, Defense attorney Robert Shelton asked Judge Davis to consider his client’s health issues and that he is receiving treatment in jail. Davis’s reply? Glad you asked. “It sounds like you are asking for compassion by keeping him in custody so the state can continue to take care of him,” Davis said. “I’m inclined to just let him out and let him fend for himself.” It’s good to know that Davis has the public’s best interest at heart. All hope is not lost for Mr. Bergeron though. After all, vampires are immortal and there will be no shortage of his life-sustaining semen in the pokey. Police charged Joyce Maxine Gregory with malicious castration and assault inflicting serious bodily injury. Gregory and a 59-year-old Shelby man argued early Saturday morning at a home on Bowman Street. The man told police he went outside to call 911 after the confrontation. The man said Gregory came outside and grabbed him by his scrotum before he was able to jerk away from her grip, the report states. Then, the man walked to the Shelby Rescue Squad building for help. He was taken to Cleveland Regional Medical Center. A hospital urologist told police stitches could repair the man’s injury, according to the report. Police officers on the scene went back to search the Bowman Street home. They found Gregory inside and arrested her. While inside an officer’s patrol car, Gregory removed her pants and urinated in the back seat, according to the report. She was taken to the magistrate’s office at the Cleveland County Courthouse after the incident. Gregory was booked into the Cleveland County Detention Center. The San Bernardino Sun reports 21-year-old Amanda Sorensen was arrested Monday after an initial investigation of the girl's death. San Bernardino County sheriff's deputies went to an Apple Valley home Sunday and found the child suffering from a seizure after ingesting the kitchen spice. She was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead. Spokeswoman Jodi Miller says the girl is the daughter of Sorenson's boyfriend. An autopsy will be performed to determine cause of death. Sorensen is being held on $500,000 bail and is due in court Jan. 9.
