One thing I find annoying about the location and country part on the profile page, is some people don't declare their nationality fair enough they live and work in Thailand but they were not born there!!!!!People make comments about various things but they don't declare where they were born, you don't have to declare your address but if you are going to rubbish someone or something at least declare where you are from originally so no bias can be observed!!!At least if I say the English can't play cricket or rugby they know where I am coming from!!!!! (Just using this as an example fellas) Australia and England are great rivals in sport!!!!! (for the people who don't know!!!)That's my whine for the day have a good weekend everybody!!!!

I agree. Especially when someone is trashing another country and they list their nationality is "Mixed European."

umm.. i like guy who can understand what i say..lolz

We could take it a step further and have everyone's nationality branded on their forehead .

But does nationality explain it all or will we go with the sterotype and assume a cultural bias? Especially if your from a place which wants to seperate from a country. For example somehow from the UK may identify themselves as Welsh or Scottish, (especially on the rugby field!) which is not their nationality.

And if you say that your english would you want everyone to assume that your middle aged, bald and hang out in beer bars all day in thailand? Anymore than me coming from australia would be seen as a sportmad, beach obessed, drunkard yobbo - well maybe in the past.....

And let's not get into the whole 'who is really thai discussion' . TAT likes to promote 'hill tribes' in the north as uniquelyThai for the tourists but then when the Bangkok elite refer to 'hill tribe' people it is usually many say there not really thai - I'm saying this from living in CM as a kid and going back regularly but happy to be challenged.

Are the Tibetans really Chinese? Do the Karen and Shan consider themselves Burmese? Tamils, Sri Lankan? Are people from the Mersyside really english ....?

Can't they just say 'I'm confused where I am from and I live in Thailand for now'!

I have no respect for certain members who hide behind their profiles, without a name or photo of themselves. Because they rant and wave behind their keyboards on journals and forums, but are too chicken ass to show their ugly faces..........

I don't trash any countries, but I find it quite eerie how much sense this latest Bin Laden 9/11 anniversary announcement contains compared to what comes out of American politician's mouths.

I found that nationality actually doesn't have 100% influence on a person. You can have Thai nationality but was born from American, Indian, or Burmese parents, and you were raised up under the influrence of your own ethnic background. You might have been studied in internationl schools, or overseas and don't have anything Thai in your thinking at all.

Sometimes I don't really think it all that matters to say what nationality you are. You can be anyone on the internet, and stating your nationality doesn't really prove how sincere or open you are in this cyber world anyway.
