Plot : follows the exploits of FBI Special Agent Olivia Dunham, scientist Walter Bishop, and his son Peter as they investigate aspects of fringe science (telepathy, levitation, invisibility, reanimation, etc). All over the world, a series of apparent experiments collectively referred to as "the Pattern" (e.g., a newborn baby who became 80 years old in a few minutes, etc.) are occurring for reasons unknown. Olivia, Peter, and Walter are in charge of investigating these strange events to determine their source. I like 'The Unit' - it's written by David Mamet, so the dialogue is excellent.

Other UK tv worth getting: Coast, QI, and Last of the Summer Wine.

I agree the unit is great and so is fringe but also Eureka from scifi is about a top secret town for advanced research projects.

There is also Stargate sg-1 and stargate atlantis if you like sci-fi

Also from usa network there is Monk about a detective with OCD condition and Burn notice about cia operative who gets 'burned' meaning put in bad standing.

I think most of them can be seen for free from the network website.
