Last two weeks, i had free time (dont have much free time lately... busy, but cant keep money) ... i asked mom to go shopping... DSC_0304.jpg... @ Big C... during shopping... DSC_0305.jpg ... still looking for something..after spending more than 1.30 hrs...DSC_0307.jpg   DSC_0308.jpg"Power Ranger", very famous Japaneses cartoon, was my favorite when i was young... 20 years ago... Oops!! i was distracted...DSC_0311.jpg ... done!!!.... i think i spent about (almost) 3 hours... i like checking new products on shelf.>>>Time for cooking!!... i just feel like something easy... just 2 dishes this time....ok, the ingredients of the 1st dish are...DSC_0312.jpg ...eggsDSC_0313.jpg ... tofuDSC_0315.jpg ... chopped carrot, tomato and spring onion (to make the dish colorful)step by step...... so easy : )DSC_0319.jpgDSC_0320.jpg ... whisk eggs (hope i use the right vocabulary)DSC_0321.jpg... mix chopped carrot, tomato and spring onion.... oh!! dont use all carrot and spring onion this time... please leave little thenDSC_0316.jpg  ... chopped square tofuDSC_0323.jpgthen, put tofu into the bowl... and add the seasoning... both black and white pepper, fish source and a bit of vinegar (believe me... it sweeten)DSC_0332.jpg .... ready for the next step DSC_0336.jpg ... we use this... "steamer" DSC_0333.jpgDSC_0334.jpgand wait.... many would have heard to make a good boiled egg... cooking time is about 8 mins... not sure for this streamed eggs... let say 10 mins... i guess.. DSC_0337.jpgabout 7 mins passed (wait till eggs partly cooked), i opened the streamer and put the rest of carrot and spring onion on top... and wait againand DONE!!!.... so let move to another dish... "stir fried mixed mushroom with oyster sauce"DSC_0328.jpg ... 2 kinds of mushroom, carrots and goat pepper(i have read a research from somewhere, sorry i cant remember... mixed 3 kinds of mushroom would be even better... but this time... just lazy to tear the package of the 3rd mushroom...so just 2 is ok..lol)goat_horn1.jpg .... goat pepper 006.jpg ... i dont use chili (guinea-pepper or bird-chilli) because it's too spicy... i just want to add a bit spicy and its color. The size of goat pepper is bigger than chilli.... but less spicy.... so the size doesnt matter : )DSC_0326.jpg last but not least... spring onion... to add color and flavour you might notice i try to use same ingredients for both dishes... because a super market likes to pack them in the big set... over-needed.nevermind... shall we begin? : )DSC_0340.jpgwait till oil is hot... put pressed garlics in DSC_0342.jpgthen.... cut goat peppers DSC_0343.jpgmushrooms afterthat... next, oyster sauce, water, fish source, sugar and a bit of vinegar DSC_0345.jpg... and spring onion...DSC_0346.jpg ... DONE!! the first... "Kai Toon" .. ä¢èµØë¹ or streamed egg

and another... "Pad Hed"... ¼Ñ´àËç´ or "stir fried mixed mushroom with oyster sauce" ... you would see its English name is longer because it explains about the dish... but for Thai, mostly we call it in short... just stir fried mushroom... or Pad Hed.

LOL. I've recently been experiencing the same: I never spent as much time in supermarkets as I have since Jandevil arrived here. We've even gone to two, Bangluck in Hollywood and Viendong, a Vietnamese one on Rosemead Blvd, to which I had NEVER previously gone before.... It's been well worth it, because it turns out that Jan is a really good cook (albeit sometimes I have no idea what I'm eating...).
