Do you believe in love?

I do believe in love. I wanna know what you think.

Love is patient, love is kind.

It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.

It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.

Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.

It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

There is a chemical reaction in the brain releasing endorphins into the synapses, similar to eating chocolate to some extent. More noticeable after using MDMA. Not that we would eh! That can be called love or give a sense of falling in love. Added to this our libido gives us the attraction effect which can also be described as love but is often something different.

Being communal animals we have evolved as not only hunters but gatherers too, with a sense of community and the need for companionship. Later relationships between mates are closely related to the primal need for these bonds and chemically the brain changes. The love felt between partners becomes one similar to that of close family. That is why with many couples the sex drive diminishes. Particularly with males according to a set of studies recently published in the Lancet.

Instinct also play its part, IE most mothers feel a strong protective bond towards their off spring. Without these primal latent emotions or memories we would not have survived as a species. But again all these emotions are functionary. As an external force, love doesn't actually exist.

My two pennies worth anyway.
