Sunday Rant : Animal Cruelty
The Emporium Bangkok, in conjunction with the Chiang Mai Night Safari, is hosting a special event called "King of the Jungle." From October 8-18, 2009. On display will be exotic animals in a luxury shopping complex for the shoppers to see, ostrish, meercat, white tiger, lion, exotic birds, monkeys etc etc. Passing through today, i am kind of skeptical on this charade. From what i see, it's wrong to put these animal inside a concrete building with limited amount of fresh air, such small space/cages, big speakers blasting the music loudly at them, all the spotlights, wrong temperature/ ventilation etc etc. I mean, why bring a zoo into a shopping mall? ...Poor animals... The kids want to see, parents bring the kids, therefore they end up spending money one way or another. Money money money... Educational or cruelty, is it necessary?
