A couple from New York City is coming to Thailand for their honeymoon. The hubby's sister wants to give the bro a gift, a prearranged dinner for them while they are in BKK, ideally it would be a place that was currently very popular and known for having some of the best cuisine in the Bangkok city, not touristy or one that is in all of the guide books.

They are both very involved in the food industry.

The husband is a manager of one of the best restaurants in New York City.

The Wife a sommelier (wine expert) for restaurants.

Could you recommend any? Can PM me the website of the restaurant if admins don't allow us to post it here. Thanks a million :D

If I read this stuff, I would like to send them to a chicken rice street vendor. That would be just right for these two 'gourmets'.

It's hard to find any places here that aren't in the guide books. They even put the crappy restaurants in the guide books.

That being said, I'd go with either the Long Table or the Bed Supper Club. Quality of service and food is very high...I think they are both owned by the same company.

Admin: I have a few in mind already but I asked for help here because I believe you guys know some cool places in BKK.

Dont think Bed Supper Club is the right place for a honeymoon couple lol

somewhere hi-end? ah yeah..Sirocco?

I can't remember the name of it, but I would definitely take them to the Thai restaurant at the Oriental Hotel. It's been a few years since I've been there, but it was by far the most elegant, best service, best food of all the restaurants I've been to in BKK. Much better than the 4 Seasons, or the Peninsula.

Coming from the upper crust of the NewYork food circuit, they will be truely impressed with the Oriental's style, but it's not cheap by a long shot.

Breeze and Sirocco will impress them. that walk down to Sirocco is so open it would never pass code in NYC so it will be impressive. Sky bar is also OK. Having said that I was never impressed with the 2 times I ate at Sirocco. Its a long way from the kitchen to the tables and this affects temperature of food as well. Plus its breezy up there and that affects temp of food as well.

For Italian go to La Villa in Tong Lor Soi 9 (i think its soi 9) - its beautiful, classy restaurant with glass walls and very open feeling. ask for Roberto who is a character and will make a couple New Yorkers feel at home, they also have good Italian wines for reasonable prices. . For great food (both Thai and Western) in a nice down-to-earth setting I like Kuppa Sukumvit Soi 16 (i think). For Steak its the NY Steakhouse at Marriott that is impossible to beat for great quality beef and wines.

Bed Supper club is great for honey mooners but I always thought the food there was mediocre at best.

Breeze at Lebua is very good, better than scirocco at least when it comes to food.

But if they both work in that industry they will get what they are used to at Breeze so why not try out something different.

There is a vietnamese restaurant at sukhumvit soi 23 wich is very good, excellent fish. Cant remember the name though

but its easy to find just go in on soi 23 pass cowboy on the left and the place is to the right maybe 100-200m after passing cowboy.

Its a villa
