Stramash
I think we can see that the vast majority of people live within boundaries of morality and self control. We also see wonderful acts of compassion everywhere. Deep.... really deep. You should write a book.
Neo
There is not a country in the world whose history is not steeped in bloodshed. Some are just more recent than others. What about the Cook Islands? The worst that's happened there is a couple of early missionaries got eaten, and a minor skirmish when some sailors first set foot there. No wars, invasions, coups. My Canadian history is very limited but I imagine the Mohawks and most Inuit tribes would disagree. Didn't the French have numerous Indian wars? I seem to remember a big shoot out between some Mohawks at a reservation and police in Ontario or Quebec about 15 yrs ago?

If you drive up into Canada it could be taken for boring as it is often sparse of buildings and seemingly people. However it is full of people and yea has lots of indian wars and wars with euros. Big trapping business in the 1800s.
