SweetieBabie
Farang teachers earn more than Thai teachers, but on the whole they do a better job. I know Thai people don't like to admit it, but education here is very poor. Underfunded and very little in the way of a decent curriculum or teaching skills. Thai language teachers are generally dreadful - pronunciation and grammar particularly bad. well brothers, I do not believe that all foreigners working in Thailand are worth it. Some really do deserve, many really do not. I also do not believe that your degree whether MA or BA would determine your work ability. I'd say that i had been quite lucky to have my Thai mentor 100 times giving, efficient, committed and more sacrifice than any other foreigners who would punch the card and slack off after the bell ring 6PM, there were useless ****. while my Thai mentor would stay until very late with me if i need him. I felt really bad that he was paid half less.
bigKus
Getting a salary much larger than the locals.. and spend it stingily then been ripped off by a lazy dumb ***** ... No, i wouldnt change them been spending to much time in places like Nana or Cowboy lately have you? That's where the one's you describe mostly go. No, ja PeeMarc, Even though sometime I cant avoid to be around the places mentioned especially Na Na but I didnt mean those guys. I mean, Farangs who stay long term in Thailand (working under contracts or whatever ja ) These Farangs wont be around those places..They can order their weekly / monthly girlfriends come into their places, ( allowance, meals, transportation Expenses are included then reimburse back from company under entertainment cost tax receipt ) we get paid 3 or 4 times your salary because we are 5 or 6 times better at anything then you are, including perceiving reality. why else would the money get paid? its not cause any thai person is bribing us or in need of our govt contract or crap. if people took more than 15 seconds to think about it they would realize its cause we are 10 times more productive than a thai counterpart. and in most cases there are no thai counterparts for us, they are all below us - education, experience, maturity, and common sense. Hi.. hun, how is wedding plan going ? 10 times more productive than thais ?? Are you sure you are farang not something god give away ? *sigh* Are people you talking about inclusive farang who hang over to office in the morning, smork weed during work on customer's site ? I suggest you to take 10 mins to think outside your own ass and spend some time with educated / professional thai people

The educated / professional Thai people were usually educated outside of Thailand. If you are talking about bad workers who have hangovers when they arrive for work, he means that Farang wasters are more productive than Thai wasters. Khun' Ka, :x I dont think he makes any point here just shallow (farang) view point. If you work with those educated outside thailand people you would know that performance lower than people educated in thailand and very difficult to work with due to over confident and arrogant, come from rich family. And I didnt talk about bad workers, I talking about speciallist engineer.

They can't handle hard work believe me... if they do hard work they will quit the job not in a year to get more education. I just say they are "some" not 'everyone' For people who graduated in Thailand, just like me, I don't know... but for my work, I put my ass into it. I work from 8 am - 5.30 pm. If they need me to come early i will come, if i can't finish work or I have to be at work until late at night, it's ok for me. And as Tonia said... I rarely see my foreigners colleagues like to stay over time or come to work on weekend. Plus I haven't seen them much at special events. It's just my observation. Chatty
Another point that I have seen is about our "Broken English" I don't mind if you make fun with it... Trust me I like to make joke of Thai broken English... I don't think anyone in Thailand angry if you guys make fun, or laugh about it. However, they are some native speakers always get upset when we can't speak English well. Why is that? Not every Thai have money to get in English class, not every Thai speak English everyday... Here we speak Thai mostly. It's annoying to see but if I WOULD I COULD change those people attitude...

SoBeIt
I like how farangs express their feeling in public.. It might not look so proper in Thailand if you kiss each others while you're waiting for a taxi . But I like it.. I think if we love someone.. Just show it! That I dont want to change. I would prefer for Thai people to correct my Thai but sometimes people can overdo it. When offering advice I think it works best when the other person solicits the feedback. I'll often be asked if a certain word is the best word or if they're using it correctly. Then you can discuss the various rules that apply and help the person better understand. admin
However, they are some native speakers always get upset when we can't speak English well. Why is that? Not every Thai have money to get in English class, not every Thai speak English everyday... Here we speak Thai mostly. It's annoying to see but if I WOULD I COULD change those people attitude... I'm not saying this is right but you asked why so I'll suggest that English is sort of the universal language. I've worked in several international companies in Europe and English was always the official language. My last employer had it in their employee manual that all meeting would be conducted only in English and they were primarily a Swedish company. Nearly everywhere you go in the world signs are posted in the native language and English. Even BKK airport, there are very few signs that are in Thai only. But keep in mind that Thailand has one of the lowest English adoption rates in the region. And this is something even the Thai government has taken notice of and expressed concern that this might impact their competitiveness in the global marketplace. In 2005 they further recognized that their current English education initiatives were failing. Of course, that's not a reason to get upset at someone else but for many people living in a foreign country, especially one so different from your own culture as Thailand, can be stressful in itself. Not being understood or able to communicate simply makes it even more stressful so sometimes people react in a regrettable manner. Some people adapt to change well. Others have a harder time with it.
