What do you think of the new TF?

thumped up!

i'd say 1sth year uni thai student could make it better.

i hope that who created this is not blind yet!

I'm not sure if a first year uni Thai student could do that or not, but I would like to give it a try. Because it must be very cheap. This makes me want to have my very own dating/network thingy website one day.

How many dating website in Thailand can keep members login as long as 3-5 years? Not many, some of those website disappear in their first year. I say, TF still has its charms. Some banned members keep comming back in different usernames, some deleted their profiles and created new..the wheel goes around, you know.

I'm sure that the designers of this new TF are open minded people, how about keep your comment construtive rather than aggressive. Aggressive comment won't help anything.

True, TF still has its charms; but that's because of the people, and in spite of the portal.

Changing the aesthetics to suit the self-appointed arbiters of "taste" is no big issue. And the glitches and losses of functionality in some areas aren't the end of the world. But it's a bit condescending to take a clear step backwards and try to spin it as an improvement.

TF already has one elephant residing under the living room carpet. Pointing out the website problems, regardless of how the criticism is worded, is better than pretending they don't exist.

What happen to "newest members" pictures/profiles? We used to see 5 profiles on the community page and now it shows only 3.

And i haven't seen anyone new (women) since the new Tf began

( that is unlikely)

Members can't upload their pic for the first few days after the "new" TF is on and up til now there were some problems with members' pictures waiting for approval.

I want to stay possitive but it's getting harder now.

Simple marketing strategy for a social network website or a dating website, showing new profiles is important. You don't change it from showing 5 (which is already not that many) to 3, you change it from 5 to 8 or 10.

The first page is also very important. You don't freeze it with a few pictures, and one of them cover his face. He looks like a terrorist, sorry.

Oh, well..I'm gonna make myself a good cup of coffee.

and we still need new chatroom graphics and a new favicon

:D

And a nipple filter for the older males, to stop new female members from being scared to join!

You mean duct tape? Because since the party on Saturday we're clean out of plasters.

Perhaps save the duct tape for the TF S&M parties.....

And the glitches and losses of functionality in some areas aren't the end of the world. But it's a bit condescending to take a clear step backwards and try to spin it as an improvement.

And to be honest, we appreciate the feedback. I think the issue is trying to get people to word their feedback in a way that's actionable.

Personally, there are things I like and things I don't like about the redesign. I don't think I've ever seen a redesign that was perfect and everybody loved it. In fact, the last big one I was involved with was revamping Party Poker's software. The software interface had been unchanged for over 8 years. When the product manager started scheduling new features in the release after the redesign I said "Hey, leave the next two releases blank. We're going to get tons of feedback and those next two releases need to be about addressing that feedback. I don't want the engineers to be knee-deep in building new features and tell me they don't have time to make little tweaks."

I've said previously that this is not a final product. No website ever is. Websites evolve. TF will evolve. The vast majority of the issues people have brought up are fairly easy to change. Swapping out a background color or adding grid lines here or there is fairly simple.

But, we've had some other technical glitches too so we've been focused on getting everything working right before we start looking at the design. It's not that we're not hearing people, believe me.

And that brings us back to the original point which is it's one thing to say someone hates the white background but that really doesn't get us any closer to what we should change it to. Some have suggested a very slight change just to differentiate the background from the main part of the page. Right away I know that some people are still going to be unhappy with that solution so we're basically trying to decide if we do something what exactly should we do.

Going forward, members can expect new things coming at a much more rapid pace than before. I have a long list of stuff I think would be very cool for TF and as soon as we're done tweaking the design I'm going to be pouring myself into rolling out new things. Some will be small. Some will be big. Regardless of the size though, I think they're things that most TF people will enjoy and get some value out of.

Nothing wrong with the website - that's because TF recently has only 3 new members :?

New members won't show until we get the upload pictures issue sorted. Coming shortly!

it's not a bad dream...the banner is still here...damn!

Yeah still there, I dont know why, I checked the html with chromes element inspector and its just a placement of a simple slideshow. A 2minute code cut an paste with a smaller simpler banner is all it would take to sort out.

which also means those pics were hand picked and cut to fit in to the banner!!!!

With the amount of members here with creative backgrounds you would think they would have asked a few tf members for some help.

Sorry I know I have been moaning a bit about the new look but all the things that are wrong are the basics.

If your not a designer don't design out source it to people who can.

If you don't write code outsource it to people that can.

In fact in all creative jobs if you cant do it well yourself get someone else to do it and learn from their work dont just jump in blindly.

I have a feeling that whoever was responsible for this new layout wanted to keep too much close to his own chest which is bad project management.

Not everyone has all the skills so utilize what others have rather than getting it wrong yourself.

And I have a strange feeling these empty white sides are there for ad space in the future, lets see!

Well...at least you're active in the forums again!

Anyway, you are assuming a lot here, and you have wrongly assumed all of it. I'm not really asking you to put your foot in your mouth, it's just that the coders and designers are all on these forums scratching their heads.

Your stating I have wrongly assumed everything , I did not assume I checked the code to see the elements of the web page as stated above. I work in and have a BA in media so I have a fair knowledge of what can and what cant be done with html, css etc. and how easy it is to change that.

I know you guys have come under a lot of criticism regarding the new lay out but don't Assume that because we did not build the site and are just users that we have no understanding of the way things work.

I haven't read much of anything in this thread but this is my take on it, the new design is terrible.

Maybe terrible is too harsh a word but basically I now have two white wide gaps on both sides of my monitor, I scroll more because all my content is now more condensed and lightly coloured going straight down and I haven't seen a single new member join since it changed up.

Either there's a bug in the code that stops peoples profiles or maybe homeboy on the front page hard grilling people is keeping them away.

Plus these revolving photos (Needless and more scroll) seem like a constant reminder to implement a real community page in which anyone who puts up a public picture would be shown amongst 30 or so other thumbnail clips, kinda like every other website on the internet does. Specifically the 'party' ones that have a shelf life of 9 months, see lastnightinbangkok (dead), 611 bkk, lifestyle in asia and a few others, or the photo page on Siam Hip Hop.

I feel for the people who had to change it tho, fixing something that isn't broke never turns out well in the end, maybe I just don't read enough blogs/twitters/hi5/tagged/myspace/facebook pages to get with it as I'm guessing that where the inspiration or template comes from.

Oh and you can't be serious on message preview, the whole idea behind that is to read your post like you just really posted it and read up the last few messages to make sure your not saying some outrageously stupid stuff or missed something and see how it gels with the rest of the thread, you could forget everything else I said if you just fixed the message preview, someone needs a slap in the face for changing that. Or better yet never change it to serve as a constant reminder of how never to message preview.

Maybe the design is terrible, but the party was good!
