PeeMarc
Hi guys... simple question: Whats the best quality vs value compact digital camera on the market today in your opinion? All comments much appreciated. Cheers.
English_Bob
My ex used to use a Canon Ixus... She took some great pics with that. Very sharp close-ups and fantastic colours. My Dad and Uncle liked it so much, they both bought one each... and my Uncle bought another one for a present.
funky_house
Hi guys... simple question:Whats the best quality vs value compact digital camera on the market today in your opinion? All comments much appreciated. Cheers. Personally, I always buy the Canon Ixus pocket cameras. At the moment I have the Ixus 870is. It does everything that I want it to, and just slips in my pocket. Now I have my eye on the Canon S95. This might help you: http://www.photographyblog.com/articles_best_digital_camera.php

Crustyjuggler
Someone said, the very compact canon s95.. A little bigger but better is the Panasonic LX5 (small Panasonic compacts are very good also) Have the best optics IMHO. I've seen them both in Fortune.. CiaranM
Hi guys... simple question:Whats the best quality vs value compact digital camera on the market today in your opinion? All comments much appreciated. Cheers. depends how compact u want ... i bought a canon sxi200 (new version sxi210 is out now) .... it's a bit bigger than "normal compacts" but has a great X12 zoom. most compacts have X3 or if u r lucky X5 zoom. it's a great camera, but as i said it is a bit bigger than basic compacts. i got it for 9,000 baht few months ago ... panasonic also do a similar camera Z10 i think ... and it gets some great reviews. i actually went to pan thip planning to buy the panasonic, but preferred the canon and ended up with it instead !!! Karnie
Canon s95 is a very good one as for now for Canon compact - I bought for my sister earlier this year. It gives good quality color especially night shot. Another one is a Canon G11 - also nice as I bought it for myself last few months ago. Only one thing I don't like about G11 is a bit thick. You might like the Olympus PEN series both good quality and pockectable size.
koolbreez
Depending on what you mainly want to use it for, the Canon G11 has near pro caliber features. It has the ability to save in RAW format, which, if you're doing allot of editing, gives you the best format to start working with. You can also use a separate flash with it. If you want a good camera, that has extreme zoom, 28x, the best low light capabilities, excellent picture quality for the web, or printing pictures up to about 16x20 inches, then you might like the new Fuji F300exr, due out this month. Fuji's F70exr with 10x zoom, the best low light features (being able to take pictures inside a room without flash), is a very good small camera, and cheaper, being that it is 1 generation back. There is an F80exr out at a higher price. These are 12mp, and 15mp cameras, and available on the second level at Pantip. Right now Canon, and Fuji, are top of the line for small cameras. You can go with Casio, and get the slimmest camera body, and fastest frame rate, but you give up a little in picture quality. There are quite a few people that like Panasonic also, with their Leica lenses, but you don't have as much zoom factor. Sony has some good cameras too, but you have to use their storage card. There are trade offs with whatever camera you finally decide on, and that is the hard part about making your choice, what features are important to you. What ever you get though, it will be nice just to have a new camera.
