PeeMarc
Q-bar .. I almost drowned in pretentiousness, luckily I was able to sacrifice my friends and wade to the exit Haha... agree. Low-sos trying to be hi-sos, wankers trying hard not to look like wankers, Nana girls doubling (and trippling) their prices, try-hards trying harder, most people seem to be there just to say the've been there... Yep... drowned in pretentiousness just about sums that place up.
R.Win
it is not safe to go to sukhumvit between soi 4 and asok late at night. there are many ass-ugly socks-and-sandals farrangs cavorting with hookers too ugly or worn out to work in the bars, and some of the nastiest ladyboys on the planet. the mental pictures that stick with you from your walkabout will scar you for life. I would also add between Sukhumvit 7/1 and 13 late at night. I went for a stroll after an event at Absolute one night and saw an old man (About 70 at least) being hassled by a ladyboy who was trying to shake him free of a beer bottle so she could hit him with it. Two others were hanging around enjoying the sport. When I walked up and told them I was a black belt Taekwondo (not) and to settle down and show a bit of Jai Yen Yen, the lb said he had scuffed her pretty shoe while she was walking beside him and it was worth 2000 baht to fix.I talked them out of it gently, took the bottle away and helped the old guy to a taxi. He said the lb had sidled up to him, got pissed off when he wouldn't take her home and grabbed a bottle and threatened him. You might say I took a risk. I know, but he was a nice old bloke and I figured he was someones poor old dad. He was lucky that night I think - I was the only one around. AND I will second Patpongs upstairs ping pong bars as being no-go areas. A couple of friends of mine from Aussie got into strife there. It is a lot more than 100 baht for a drink once they get you inside  Did you wear shining armor that night? If you don't have a superhero costume yet you should get one fast, you deserve one. Saving helpless ol' farts who shouldn't be scrumming around certain parts of BKK late at night and who know that damn well but probably are looking for a hot young girl so he could forget he was about 50 years older. Yeah those guys need your heroic efforts... or maybe, just maybe the ladyboy actually had a purpose they both didn't realize which would be teaching that guy a lesson. But you damn well stopped that from happening huh 8) tell you what, you get *your* superhero costume and *you* can defend the ladyboys against *him* NO even GO there man Oh dear, the "knight in shining armour" sling-off again. You just don't learn about shooting your f**ng mouth off when someone is making a contribution to the forum. But then again, you are not an egalitarian Aussie like me, who would help him out even if he was a 'helpless ol' fart' (and a Pommie to boot ).QUOTE: "If you ain't Dutch, you ain't much." Guess it about sums it up. The only one who needs help here is you man... really
R.Win
I am suffering under the attacks of TF's most favourite Dutchman. Please defend me people... I am the ONLY one who needs help here. What a f***ng comeback.... LMFAO It wasn't me you need protection from, the fact you don't even get that.... well... I rest my case

What a f***ng comeback.... LMFAO Satorn...to take the buddhist approach, your suffering comes from your 'attachment' to your feelings towards this person and whatever comments they make. The more you allow this 'attachment' to feed on itself, the more YOU will suffer, not the other person (as you wish). I am not taking sides. I am not saying either is wrong or right or better or worse. Just offering some rather obvious, friendly advice. "Proy wang" - let it go. Then it will be over. grezzzy_greer
socking sandal farang with worn out hoes Huh? Why are farang walking around with gardening implements? Agree with most of the posts...and MBK especially, although these days it is relatively SAFE and NICE in comparison to what it was like when I arrived in BKK...at that time it was like several floors of cramped street stalls...bloody incredible... Some of the other shopping centres are nearly as bad...The Mall Bang-Kapi is not great on exits either. Hmm...going to places that people say are dangerous just so you can say you have been there...yes...years ago my then 17 year old brother-in-law used to do that... tonyP
There is that little shopping mall across from MBK (when you go through the overpass with the horizontal escalator/magic carpet thingy!!!)... If you are there just at the wrong time when the shoe sale starts and the place is loaded with university girls you could very easily lose an eye from a wayward high heel pump! Of course, being trampled by university girls in a shoe store riot might not be the worst way to go! In fact some would consider it the best way to go! I think you are underestimating how dangerous Bangkok actually is overall. It may be generally safer for you and I as foreigners for various reasons. But my understanding is that crime and murder rates are pretty high here.
