Hi all,

Well looks like I will be coming back to Thailand sooner than planned. ;) My company needs me when I had planned to leave .. oh well .. earlier is better.

Can anyone recommend a decent serviced apartment in BKK?

My requirements:

- Relatively close to BTS/MTS (I am not Thai so walking 5-6 blocks is ok. haha)

- Wireless Internet. And I don't mean a computer available for me to use .. I will be bringing my MacBook.

- Laundry/maid service

- Short term renting (2-3 months)

Beyond that ... not much more.

Khop khun krab!

Centre point has very nice serviced apartments dotted around Bangkok, at reasonable prices....

They got all the things you seek.

I was checking them out earlier ... until I saw their rates:

http://www.centrepoint.com/Locations/ApartmentRates.aspx

Cheapest one is $1300US a month! That's almost what I pay for my mortgage in Canada. :P

Forgot to mention my price range: 15,000 baht per month is the absolute tops.

Sorry there's no way you are getting a true serviced apartment in Bangkok for that rate, unless maybe the studios at HouseByThePond are okay for you.

You might look for a furnished studio apartment which will accept month by month payment for a higher than normal rate.

Is that inclusive of utility bills?

At that price range, I am not sure you will get serviced apartments around central bangkok - just my opinion though.

Geez, you need to negotiate a better deal with your company regarrding travel accommodation!!!

Any way, I stayed at BU place once, but that is in Dindang ($13,000 bahts a month, not including utilities).

Very basic accommodation. But it has a swimming pool and a gym.

Had to catch Taxis all the time though (including motor bike taxis). Personally, I felt the savings I made through accommodation was wasted through daily taxis.

Can't remember whether they have wi-fi.

You should call them.

Here is their site; http://www.buplace.com/superior_non.html

Guess I should be making myself much clearer. :P

Yes, a studio apartment is what I want. Nothing fancy. Just clean and safe.

When I was in Thailand last time I stayed in a place for 15000 baht a month. Studio, wifi, maid service, etc. I choose not stay there again as they tried to rip me off when I moved out.

And to the other poster .. I am coming on vacation .. not work. ;)

Unfortunately posting such a question on Thailand Friends is not going to yield anything useful as 99% of people here have no idea what they are talking about.

There are plenty of serviced apartments in decent areas (metro/bts) for between 10-15000 providing you are willing to sign a long term contract and cough up a deposit.

Pampered expats cocooned by their company in cushy places like centrepoint have no idea about anything that goes on so it would be wise to disregard their comments.

PM me for more details

Clearly you don't understand the term "serviced apartment" and the OP is also confused. In Asia "serviced apartment" means an apartment that is

* Fully furnished right down to sheets and crockery, with cable TV and daily maid service

* Basically a hotel with a bit more amenities

* does NOT need a long term contract. The whole point of serviced apartments is for 1-3 month stays when they are better value than hotels

Examples include Oakwood, Centerpoint, Fraser Place and many others you can find on places like Moveandstay.com

There are of course a myriad studio apartments for 15 K all over Bangkok. You can even get a 1 bed place in a fairly good location if you sign a longer term contract

Its true, a serviced apartment does have maid service, fully furnished, no deposit, short term stay, room service, pretty much a hotel with a kitchen and a lounge.

Well thats a Bangkok serviced apartment anyway, and I'm no posh cocooned expat that gets put up by my company, thats for sure.

I'm sorry if my post sounded a bit impatient, but the term "serviced apartment" does have a specific meaning here.

I'm not sure why

99% of people here have no idea what they are talking about.
That seems an unnecessary putdown by someone who was all of 13 years old when I moved to Bangkok.

I checked Housebythepond.com and the serviced studios I mentioned are now 17 K with deposit and etc., which sounds like it is out of the OP's range.

Having lived all over Bangkok before buying several condos here and paying between 2,300 baht a month and 40,000 a month over the years, I would have plenty of suggestions. I currently rent two houses and one apartment from other landlords (between 150 K and only 6 K a month) for various purposes.

I also own a studio near Sathorn road which I might consider furnishing and leasing for 15 K a month...

I do think OP should give us more information such as desire to live in a particular area. Clearly it's going to cost a lot more to live near lower sukhumvit or Sathorn than to live near the ends of the BTS line.

OTOH, if I was here for a holiday I would want to live more centrally. Presumably OP will want to take taxis home at night so being more central can save costs. Also expected level of furnishing...

There are plenty of knowledgeable Thais and farangs who can make recommendations -- in public

Same as most ppl have said in Sukhumvit it will be hard to find anything this cheap for what ur asking.

4 places that I would normally use within walking distance of the BTS in this area would be:

http://www.starsuitesbangkok.com (Asoke/Nana)

http://www.housebythepond.com (Phrom Pong)

http://www.citymansion.com/CityMansionfront.html (Nana / Ploen Chit)

http://www.altahouseapartment.com/altahouse_detail/room.html (Nana/Ploen chit)

Out of them Star Suites would be the best all round has everything u asked apart from price.

Within your price range I think altahouse is all u can really get. If ur only there a 2-3 months y not pay a bit extra for comfort i.e get a pool, decent tv channels etc i'm sure it won't break ur bank in the long term.

You can stay in my town house for free, no one lives there, and its a proper mess but its free!

having seen it i think if you want someone staying there, you should be offering to pay *them*.

Was hoping they would clean it....... its the only way they would be able to get up stairs!
