Killed for his money (apparently).

Can't you just see it in her eyes?

Doesn't seem to me to be a crime of passion or even opportunity. This was planned from beginning to end. To ensnare a trusting old bloke into a relationship, to take him for everything he has and then to take his life too.

I can imagine them sitting together and planning their next move.

It's beyond sickening. They're nothing more than animals.

no, most animals, even mangy obnoxious soi dogs, are generally a lot smarter. and nicer. and after a few weeks in the cooler i bet most soi dogs don't smell as bad either.

OKOKOK So he's up in Roi-Et thats not good to begin with but I suppose beggars can't be choosers.

My question is, you KNOW your going to be murdered, do you hang around?

f*ck no, you get the hell out of there, a shitty 500,000 baht house isn't worth your life, and by the sounds of things, if he like girls from roi-et there are PLENTY more fish in the sea.

yep!

I should say they are less than animals.

Nah. They ARE human. Human rob, kill, lie, and bomb each other!

We should be better off if we are like animals.

*back to curl in my cat bad*

nah, not really. if you watched soi dogs and actually paid attention you wouldn't come away with the impression that animals are better.

you most likely wouldn't come away with the impression they're worse, either.

but if you compared the average mangy insane petty pissy soi dog to these two... the dog'd look smarter. a LOT smarter.

As long as you remember you are a *Farang* in this country, with no real access to law and justice, everything will work out fine...

It's like medieval Europe, only it's not...

don't feel bad.

it's not like Thais have access to law and justice either, unless they're a) filthy rich, B) were 'wronged' by a farrang, or c)both a and b.

Is this based on experience or hearsay?

I've been in court six times in the past few years both as plaintiff and defendant (Criminal, Civil and Labor courts)

I had one unpleasant judge in a lower Labor court who made a remark like "Farangs think they can come to Thailand and treat Thais anyway they want" which was quite offensive and immaterial to the facts of the case. However even in this case, I think she was just trying to goad me into a compromise settlement.

Overall, justice was served pretty well in all the cases I was involved in, and the outcomes I've had were more positive than negative.

If Thaksin's cronies couldn't even influence the judges to give him a favorable decision, that's another indicator that the legal system is improving.

If a farang is in dispute in with a small Thai business, that businessman might have a few tricks like bribing court officials (not judges) to delay the case for years. But I doubt if the judge can be influenced. If it is a big Thai businessman versus a farang individual there is certainly potential for influence peddling but it's not a forgone conclusion. The TPI case was not a great advertisement for the legal system, but even that case probably helped the reform cause.

The Labor courts are crazily biased toward Employees

Rich people with connections and KNOWLEDGE of how the system works can make it work in their favor more easily than poor people. Yet... it's not really a Thai versus farang thing. If you do your research and have a good case, I don't think you lose just because you are farang.

maybe dannyboy's experience with the justice system, like most farrangs, doesn't extend past being twisted by a cop for an extra couple thousand baht 'fines" for whatever heinous crime the thai guy in front of you just did and got away with.

Well, I've never paid a "fine" in my 16 years here. Probably helps that I don't drive.

A few times, I've had policemen, try something on and I've asked (in Thai) to go down the police station to sort it out with my lawyer present (not that I really intended to do that). Calling their bluff has worked every time... (I'd rather pay some fine than my lawyers fees and waste my time). If you speak extremely politely in Thai while being firm and insisting you've done nothing wrong and want to bring in lawyers, they are nearly always going to back off rather than make problems for themselves. It's slightly annoying to have to give "Khun Tamruat" a deep Wai of respect, but that's how Thais play the system too.

If you know how to react like a Thai middle class professional or businessman would do, you can mostly avoid any of these problems. I'm not saying this is FAIR, but my point is that the discrimination is NOT o much on your race, as your behavior/knowledge/Thai skills.

The lower classes and motorbike riders are screwed over by cops far worse than farangs.

Falling of balconies must be losing it's draw.

Interesting to read Police says the reason is still unclear but Bangkok Post seems to know it was an accident.

Man falls from BTS

ACCIDENT :A foreign man received serious injuries after falling from a BTS skytrain station yesterday morning. Police said the foreigner, identified only as an American male aged 50-60, fell from the first elevated level of the Nana station in the morning rush hour, landing on the pavement.

Bystanders took the man to a nearby hospital. He sustained serious head injuries, leaving him in a coma.

The reason for the fall was still unclear, police said.

You know Americans, they hate to wait in line !!!

At least he chose the right BTS Station to jump off at. Too bad it was rush hour. Surely no witnesses can be found. At the rate farangs are falling off nowadays, who has time to pay attention to them anyway.
