  1. 1. what should be done about annoying posters?

    • BURN THEM (on the town square, marketplace, or any other convenient location)
    • BAN THEM
      0
    • CALL THEM NAMES
      0
    • call them names and then ignore them
    • just ignore them and get on with your own life.

why is it exactly people need witch hunts?

it's true in the wider world but especially noticeable in an internet forum. someone gets annoyed at "poster x"'s posts. that someone imagines there must be other like minded individuals out there (and i use the term "individual" VERY loosely). that someone posts a "let's gang up on Poster X."

brilliant idea, guys. seems Lord of the Flies was too gentle a take on human nature. so now that simon's dead, when can we go for piggy?

I ******* LOVE SIAMHOTEL. The geezer is the funniest person posting on TF, 80% bollocks but the other 20% is pure genius.

As for witch hunts, its all about power and getting *****, its all anythings about.

nb. **I'm not looking for a woman, I'm just here to meet friends and TALK>

We've had that discussion before Z, my answer is easy = gang mentality.

I find most human beings to be reasonably sociable and intelligent on a one-on-one basis. But, as soon as there is some sort of crowd phenomenon, the intelligence level drops to the carpet and is often replaced by aggressivity & bigotry.

Applying this to internet forums. I would say it's all about reputational rewards. People mimic the positions/opinions of cool "group leaders" in order to earn the respect of the pack (mostly the female member of the pack) and boost their reputation.

As for witch hunting, try getting your hands on a copy of "The Malleus Maleficarum" by Kramer and Sprenger it's a XVth century classic.

Incidentally, I do find Siamhotel entertaining at times and find that is last yellow card was totally undeserved.

Some times it is MOB rules

but

Sometimes it is just plain ordinary Oh Jesus not bloody Zeusbheld..........

AGAIN...........................

difference being, the second one is more dignified because done one-at-a-time each acting out of their own irritation, and typically expressed as such

whereas the mob thing is just invitation for wallflowers to dance, and an excuse for 'nice guys' to show their hypocrisy in order to suck up to their perceived alpha doggies. if one has a spine of one's own, why would one need to start a thread to jump on someone? or even more pathetic, jump the bandwagon?

i find it interesting how so often the ones who are never aggressive in other contexts, and wouldn't dream of being aggressive otherwise, bark the loudest when there's a group backing them up.

as for sociability, mob behavior IS social behavior... as for intelligence, how many of the stupid things people do are done for lack of the raw wattage of brain power? i doubt very many.

I meant sociable as in : marked by or conducive to friendliness or pleasant social relations (Webster)

I think you'll agree this doesn't apply to mob behavior.

I honestly, sincerely and realistically believe that the team should more or less keep their eyes and ears on/open for the scums that are on here to con ppl money, to find themselves shag mates when they are already committed, here just to **** around and cause life damaging experiences to poor innocent victims, to prostitute themselves, etc etc. Stupid foul-mouthed comments or annoying comments are so MINOR compared to all those crimes.

It's almost like police men arresting ppl who throw their cigarette butts and not ever bothered about rapes and robberies.

I said i was being honest, sincere and realistic... I'm really not trying to cause myself any troubles here ...pardon me if i happen to have something to say
