For all smokers

For many reasons, not least health, and the fact that smoking is becoming more and more socially unacceptable as each day passes, I want to try and quit.

Some people can do it, some people cannot, I am of the latter.

So - how about a few of us do it and give each other support?

Let's see what feedback this gets, and then we can work something out. Set a date, next month some time.

Thoughts?

I quit them 3 months ago for several reasons...

? They sell crappy ones here in Thailand, makes sense if you look at the price

? I spent too much many on them anyway

? You smell damn bad

? you need to find moments to do it so you'll have to leave restaurants etc.

? I lost my Lucky Strike zippo which I bought in Miami and carried for 6 years, now I keep forgetting it anyway because those one way lighters have no emotional value so I spent too much money on them as well.

? My throat feels very dead and dirty the morning after I went out or a regular day that I smoked too much.

The reasons to get back at it...

? I like the smell of them before you light them

? I love the doozy feeling in my head when I breathe in deep after I haven't smoked for a long while and of course the calm effect.

? I don't mind stepping out and actually I kind of like to do it

? You always have a great excusable excuse to sneak out of boring situations or/and conversations

? The dirty and dead in my throat feeling doesn't seem to directly come from smoking after all

? It is very affordable here

? It kills boring moments

? I simply really enjoy them

So what's gonna happen?...

I'm doing ok although I'd really like to smoke one, when I'll be back in Holland for a few weeks it will be harder not to smoke because there will be Lucky Strike anywhere you look plus all of my best mates back there smoke. And for old times sake it is very tempting. I haven't seen any of them since december last year

...I'll try not too however

I got a mean look from a woman who sat next to me at an outdoor coffeeshop last week when I was lighting my cigarette. Felt a bit shame of myself.

Same here coz I have always got a mean look from people around whenever I am smoking especially my mom, her eyes look alike wanna kill me. :?

Three years ago I have exchanges cigarettes for cigarillos. I smoked about 25 cigarettes a day and now about 7 cigarillos a day.

I inhale only little smoke, but as the tobacco is stronger you dont feel the urgent need to smoke again after 20 minutes.

To quit is the best option, but prepare to gain weight...

That's a big problem, you see, especially for a woman over (ahem) 30 like me. A friend gains 15 kg after she stops smoking for 6 months.

You may say a simple solution is moving your lazy butt to a gym, easy to say but difficult to do, you know. and If I gain another 10 kg. my husband might find himself a new slimer wife. Tough life!!!!

If I stop....can I bite your finger nails off?...mine are ugly....
