Would you share a bank account with your boy/girl friend?

My answer is NO. Life is too uncertain and things tend to get ugly when there is money involved. Besides, a bank account is a very personal thing. Just because I do not share one with my boyfriend does not mean I do not trust him.

Let me your comments.... Thanks :-)

My money + Your Money = Our money

Sooner or later if you are in a serious relationship and you decide to get married, it will all be shared. If you cannot trust the person you are with to share accounts, then you are with the wrong person.

Even if I have 1000 times more money, it is still our money when we are together.

I'd rather have 'my' savings account and 'our' savings account which we equally contribute the same amount of savings. Like SweetieBabie said; for emergency funds and for household things, etc.

'Our' savings account must be duly signed when withdrawal is made anyway. If a married couple, the money will be splitted 50/50 when file for divorce. So what are the risks?

Hypothetically:

You have 1000 times her money (not uncommon here)

Your money is shared.

2 years later you hate each other.

She gets half.

Do that a few times and see how much money you have left 8)

Hi Anne

so if I have 100.000 thb salary and you have 20.000 thb we both will put 10.000 thb??Same amount naaaaaaaaaa

:P

If mutually agreed of course. He puts 10,000 bt and I put 10,000 bt. Eventually, we have 20,000 bt. Everything else is on his account

As my beloved auntie married a non-Thai for 20+ yrs.

She always the one who manage family financial. Since she can transfer money without any action of my uncle, only his salary go to this account  so I assume it's a shared account that one of them can do anything alone.

My uncle only have to work while my auntie have to take care of all payments, saving some for tax, kid's education etc and whenever my uncle wants some money he might get it. And they will discuss about it once or twice a year if necessary (esp* at year-end or after tax paid).

I think that's a pretty hard work. But my aunt is always good at it tho' it took sometime to gained all trust. They both have the same concept, "No Debt" and all credit card usage might be cleared within 6-8 weeks time (will be used only when they travel around). I wish I get just a bit of her about this but obviously I dont. So I might marry someone who is good at financial management.

Very good example, Oiy. Not all Thai women screw their hub's money.

I know it very well since I got two aunties over there. I learn about both positive and negative sides from my 2 aunts but I'm closer to one (I mentioned about very often and also above)more than another one.
